@ all you tanks

Hunters are actually two classes. Hunters and Huntards.

This is because in Vanilla, hunters had a very low skill floor, but also a very high skill ceiling… Basically you can suck and do ok dps, and you can also be really good and contribute much more than just dps.

It wasn’t a joke, but I can see how people who have never encountered a Hunter might think it’s a joke at Huntards expense.

Tl;dr

Huntard: afk autoshot pet pulls the entire instance
Hunter: I CC 5 mobs for you all by myself, making the run super easy.

I played hunter in vanilla and pulled for all of my guild raids.

Honestly, I never understood why hunters pulled outside of raids except kiting Drakk. I guess if you make a mistake when pulling and got 2 groups, a hunter can FD and reset.

For raids, it was for 1) speed. In MC, I pull the next group of trash when the current pack drops to 30% and FD once T and OT grabbed aggro. 2) longer range, instant shot with rank 1 arcane shot, and FD so aggro can be transferred to tank easily. 3) experienced hunters know how to pull better because they were always expected to pull. Manifest Destiny.

Your comment is pretty egotistical. Please don’t take that as an attack.

You are entitled to your opinion.

While i commend your skills, and would enjoy seeing, i personally don’t like being carried. If i’m one of the deeps in ur group, i will be helping cc (if i have one) so as to stay in good practice. Now, if no one in the group wants to cc but you? Go nuts bro!

You can cc a mob if we dont finish killing stuff by the time first trap breaks, or when the stupid rogue hits the wrong target.

I can CC 5 things at once, but I can’t keep 5 things CC’d forever, so to say doing good dps is getting carried isn’t really accurate.

The warrior’s pull range isn’t as far as a hunter… so hunter ranged pulling is almost always safer, especially in high density places like UD Strat

I remember many times, hunter pets just running around madly pulling the whole instance. That bug wasn’t fixed in Vanilla wow, so I’m wondering if it will be a problem again for Classic?

Polishes your bow Good hunters are my best friend. Trap kiting, misdirect, pulls, feign, and great DPS. You’re welcome in my group any day.

EH I’m just recounting how it is, mainly because of how awful I had to deal with hunters. But yeah, they have a lot of kite and pull features, no doubt about that. Just as long as people utilize it properly.

Smugness is a good reason not to be invited to my group, but then again, if you are that good, then you won’t need my heals, I hope you got a nice stockpile of bandages.

So much poor theory-crafting to un-pack…

  1. No one wants to wait on your cooldowns for double-trapping and feigning.

  2. Wyvern Sting? So you’re Survival spec, eh…

  3. Kiting a mob? Please don’t run into another pack. Don’t get hit/netted and need heals. Why is your DPS lower than our Moonkin? Wait, where are you going…?

  4. Your pet is now tanking? Cool, the healer can just heal three targets at once (the tank, your pet, and your failed kiting attempt - remember, your FD is on CD :scream:).

4b. Oh, you’re using Mend Pet so the healer doesn’t have to heal it? So that’s why you aren’t doing any damage…

Look - Your post reads like a desperate individual who needed to bust out every stop to barely clear a dungeon. It’s not instructive for normal operations and it’s a nightmare for a tank to deal with.

A competent group has three DPS that know how to follow directions and drop enemies. God I love DPS that kills mobs REALLY FAST.

Also - Just tank if you really need to make pulls and lead groups…

Lol. Cute. Gl in nax my dude.

Survival is not a melee spec, especially in 1.12. At a certain gear point it was higher dps than MM because it had a talent for + % agility, while MM had static attack power bonuses like trueshot.

The rest of what you said is just nonsense. Healer doesn’t need to heal offtank pet. Let the pet die, it’s really not a big deal and then tank takes the mob, but for that time the group had a chance to kill another mob so. It loses happiness but you can just feed it to gain back when you res it. It will only run away if you let it die like 20 times without feeding it.

Also, if you consider pure dps more important than utility, please stay in retail. Classic is not for you.

I used to do all the pulls on my hunter in classic and tbc. Now I’ll do it on my warrior

Nice, someone that played vanilla on this thread.

I just think you mislabeled your post OP. It should have been something like…
I think Im a fantastic hunter, far better than most and now Im going to tell you why and insult as many others as I can in the process.

Your post is messed up.

You made a quote of something someone said, and it is showing me as saying it when I did not say that. Please correct it.

Edit: Thank you for correcting the post.

tldr; OP being a huntard.
