On top of that they just extended the maint to 9PM PST today.
This isn’t for me but like…i’m not going to crap all over it.
I AM going to crap on the “limited time event” part of it. That’s FOMO. That’s irritating design

No they didn’t.
I just relaunched my launcher to see if there were any changes and it still says 3PM DST.

I would be very interested to know what the benefit was to keeping this secret. There’s was no shared discovery unless you count everyone reading patch notes at the same time.

For now it is a throwaway limited time event. Personally I think they’re testing it to gauge player reception, and if it’s successful enough it’ll become a permanent game mode that will end up free to play with microtransactions and battlepasses. Like what happened to Hearthstone Battlegrounds.

I’m disappointed with the update overall as well, but not because it’s PvP. Personally, it’s just not a mode I’m overly excited about.
Every other patch is PvE focused and you’re this upset because one minor patch is about PvP?

My guy you don’t have to play. It’s a funny .6 patch with a new gamemode. It’s not a new expansion, and it’s not supposed to be much. Go sleep until season four. We will definitely miss you.

Although I’d tend to agree with you about the not doubting it before trying it, I think people are more frustrated due to the fact that actual human beings, some of which play the game that they actively work on, spent all of this time and effort on something that in all honesty has no real rationale/logic backing it up. You have to admit, it’s a tad frustrating having so many options to develop things that players have been screeching for, for months/years, only to have devs release something like a battle royale in an mmo.
Is this serious?
I admit I’m not totally sure what the appeal is with this type of game play. I wouldn’t say it sucks though, especially since I’ve yet to experience it. I’ll give it a go and see how I feel after.

Seems like Blizz is tossing a bone to all the people that were convinced (for some reason) that the next expansion would be all about pirates.
I didn’t care about it before the reveal and I don’t care about it now. The language in the lead up made it pretty clear that it wasn’t going to be anything I’d be interested in.
I’m absolutely not going to stop playing a game I enjoy because a new minor event isn’t for me. That’s ridiculous.
