Heh, don’t get me started on how terrible Stormwind is. Flying makes it tolerable for me.

But on the topic at hand, you don’t need to be in the city proper to turn on War Mode. Just being in the Portal Room is good enough, then you can leave.

I’m pretty sure their design ideas consist of ‘what can we do that takes the least effort on our part.’

I think they put more effort into the convoluted reasoning they need to come up with to hide that fact.

Nope, with the removing of portals Blizzard doesn’t want you to use other cities, Ion said himself in the last interview he doesn’t like people not using Stormwind/Orgrimmar outside the current expansion.

Ion doesn’t like giving players choices, he wants to force us into his way of playing the game. He doesn’t want us in Ironforge like we used to do back in classic/bc, he doesn’t want us staying in Dalaran to farm ICC, he just wants us in the current expansion spending money on gold and seeing everyone else with their store mounts.
