Yeah a lot of my returning friends came back and enjoyed the expansion so far. Let’s hope Blizzard keeps it up
Tbh it’s a boring game if you think about it. Just about every other game I play now lets me build crap somewhere of my choosing, along with letting me have a public hideout/home that other players can see.
The other games I play are also still head and shoulders above WoW in terms of character customization.
Another thing is how fragmented this game is now. You can’t find anything in game, everything has to be searched for online. What if one day you decided you want to build up your toy collection. Where would you even start? Without looking at a website outside of the game.
Another thing is the level squishes have become comically obnoxious now. They will squish just to send the numbers through the roof again, then repeat. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, it’s like the numbers person over there is on a cokaine binge 24/7, then they leave, then they hire another dope fiend. It makes no sense.
Also they are paranoid people are gonna quit their game, even though people will play it until the sun explodes, even if they’re all morally irreprehensible. It’s like they’re beholden to a gang of thugs who will execute them if player metrics fall too low, everything has to have a cap and flying always has to come at the end of the xpac and everything has to be puppyguarded and gated and coddled and nerfed over night.
This isn’t the most copacetic game that comes to mind at all. It actually has a lot of issues that get swept under the rug by the addicted playerbase.
Quantity ≠= Quality
For many years, it was daily quests for me (and questing in general). Pet Battles were a big addition towards the end of my run from vanilla to MoP.
I did some battlegrounds and dungeons and a small bit of raiding… but those things were reserved for times when I started to get bored, which didn’t happen often.
It’s a mixed bag for me. I absolutely love the fact that there are no systems that punish me for choosing to not play for a few days (or even a week or two). I can literally just log in when I actually want to, and play my character at full power. Been having a blast with pvp. It’s nice being able to treat the game as a “game” and not a second job. And I really appreciate the frequent tuning and balance updates the devs are doing.
On the other hand, I find the story and world of the Dragonflight expansion to be incredibly uninteresting. A lot of it even seems downright corny. This is the first time since Vanilla that I haven’t gone around the new zones completing every side quest/doing every little thing there is to do. I just can’t be bothered. Not sure what it is…seems to be missing that classic Blizzard magic. Or maybe I’m just too grown up for it now. Who knows. But as long as pvp is fun, and the game doesn’t punish me for playing it, I’m subbed.
This right here. The forums and reddit are full of people complaining and bored. People quitting in droves. People who have quit in the last couple years refusing to come back. And yet when OP says “we all have heard the issues” he gets gaslit to no end.
Addicted players pretending this game has no issues and is the pinnacle of content. Cant admit to others that just maybe BORING a big chunk of its playerbase away from the game is a problem. I think those people are scared to admit that the game they wasted a decade of their lives on is just not hacking it anymore.
Many will cope and say “you just outgrew WoW”. Naw fool, the world moved forward, the gaming industry moved forward, the players moved forward, and WoW failed to keep up in any meaningful way.
Like an old wheezing dog that can barely make it up the stairs, and can’t quite jump up on the bed anymore. WoW is becoming an old dog that’s an injury away from needing to be put down. And we are supposed to clap when every two years this old dog shows it can still potty outside and sit on command, like that’s anything special to write home about.
… So you don’t want to be taken seriously? Low effort smh.
No thats bs. It’s not low effort to not rehash what a ton of others have said ad naseum, only for the pedantic police to swoop in and say
“ahhhyctuallly, dragon riding is content and renown is super fun”.
nobody has time for pedantic gaslighters to ignore the point over and over again.
The one thing thats gonna drive me away is the games performance issues. it’s been happening since the prepatch.
There is so much content to do. If none of it is “appealing” to you I would suggest a different game at this point.
Everything we have received is a direct improvement from Shadowlands, if you cant enjoy this content then honestly it might be time to hang it up.
You could always just shackle them in your basement and keep them awake 24/7 with rabbit death howls over a loud speaker until they agree to play with you! Modern solutions require modern problems!
Just spent time trying to get the quest item to drop from a primal invasion.
Farmed up over 600 of the powders or whatever they are, no quest drop, timer ended.
Joined a LFR on my rogue, the rare ring dropped off the first boss, with BIS stats for him,
rolled 100, still lost the roll to the other guy who rolled 100
sub runs out in an hour and I was on the fence about renewing before I played tonight.
The Elemental invasions had me pissed, the lost 100 roll was just the icing on the cake.
Not wasting anymore time on this BS game, hopefully RIOT hits it out of the park and puts this game to rest, it’s WAY past time.
It’s understandable that you might be feeling disappointed if your friends have moved on from the game you all enjoyed playing together. Losing friends and social connections can be difficult, and it can be especially hard when it’s because of a shared interest or activity.
It’s important to remember that people’s interests and priorities change over time, and it’s okay to pursue different things. It can be helpful to try to stay in touch with your friends and see if there are other ways you can connect, even if it’s not through the game. You might also consider finding new friends or communities to play with, whether it’s in the game or through other shared interests.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that even though your friends may have moved on from the game, it doesn’t mean that you have to as well. If you still enjoy playing, it’s okay to continue doing so, even if you’re playing alone or with a different group of people. It’s important to do what makes you happy and brings you joy.
because its the current popular opinion so u gotta type it as much as possible to impress strangers on the internet
I have one friend who’s played since vanilla that still plays.
Everyone else quit in legion/bfa and haven’t been back since.
I believe em. A whole 3 people came back out my 25 friends list. Only my kid is on anymore because he does the 3 pillars. Me, after Tuesdays reset, im done for 4 days until WQ’s spawn again. Doing hunts, feast, seige give little to no rep after it has been done the first time in the week.
I log on and fish a couple hours a day, and maybe dirt/pack farm. If thats what people call content for over world players, you all have a screw loose.
All my friends quit D&D fifth edition now. The list of problem has already been stated ad nauseum, so no need for me to restate them. Thankfully it’s not a bummer, we moved on to PF2e, it’s a better system.
Some quit in BfA and the rest in SL. The last one on the list at least tried DF but never got above 60 and he said he just doesn’t like it. I hear ya. I think it’s a me problem if I could only find a half decent guild I’d be having new “friends”. It’s just something about the mentality of the players that are still playing the game that I have a problem with, it’s almost like we’re at the bottom of the barrel.
The same issues as sl had. Loot scarcity. Overtuned dungeons. Like they never listened
