Sylvanas has black sludge constantly dripping from her eyes. She has sickly grey, purple skin. Her hair is a strange grey, green color. Her eyes glow a demonic orange. Her voice has a strange echo to it.
Calia on the other hand came back with platinum blonde or strawberry blonde hair. Breast implants, perfect skin though very pale. Glowing white/silver eyes, because she has to be demonstrated as the polar opposite of Sylvanas. Last but not least, Calia’s voice, is normal.
Not so much, as she’s seen working with Alliance leaders in SL right from the start.
Lest we forget that Death Knights were heroes of the Alliance themselves, but treated incredibly poorly by Faction leaders and townspeople. Calia doesn’t have these issues.
You are a Human that is dead. I am Forsaken.
It’s almost as if Blizzard writers thought, “You guys thought Sylvanas was a Mary Sue, after going through her story Arc? Well, here’s an ACTUAL Mary Sue, now you will know the difference.”
That’s a fair point. How about I say, if Calia becomes the Forsaken leader without development, and people fawn over her without justification, then she will be a Mary Sue. I assume this is the direction the game is going, but you’re right it hasn’t happened yet.
Bingo.
Most of the comments here that reflect an unhappiness with the apparent representation of Forsaken interests by Calia either seem to be made by people that haven’t read the novels especially Before the Storm or have read but are unhappy that the exposition was not presented in game as well (I am in the later camp). I get they want to sell books but I wish more of the story if not all could be dealt with in game.
In the novel she says her wish is to serve the people of Lordaeron. I don’t care what she looks like. If her presence in the story gives more depth to the Forsaken beyond non-Scourge edgelord killing machines then I support that.
I really hope they do Tyrande some justice in this expansion… but the more I see the more I’m expecting her to be a hammy antagonist then killed off… Why do you hate Night Elves so much Blizzard?
True enough…especially if the Mechagnomes are included in that consideration. It isn’t for a lack of trying though, is it? Everywhere they go, neither the gnomes (fleshy and mecha), nor the goblins have any regard for the environmental damage they do to the areas they exploit.
from Warcraft up to WotLK the lore was pretty alright, because that’s really where the lore “ended” at a certain point. After that the writers had to find ways to keep the story going while churning out new xpacs.
I know that it’s Blizzard writing, and we honestly shouldn’t expect much, but I don’t think most of its character come as close to bad and cookie-cutter as Nathanos.
Really? Killing every WC2 Horde hero, changing Draenei and Illidans strory are ok for you? Welp that’s all I need to know and why you would like Calia the abomination.
The retcon for Draenei honestly wasn’t bad in comparison to other retcons we have today. It was making them playable, neither was the change to Illidan’s story that egregious in comparison to what we have today. People weren’t complaining in mass about them, really, BC was a time when WoW was actually still growing strongly despite those retcons.
im sorry that i don’t prefer you liking a One-dimensional character and a simp. Even Calia might have more interesting lore.
She has no idea what the Forsaken went through. She was never Scourge so she never knew what it felt like to not have control of her mind. She wasn’t killed by the plague/Lich King then brought back as an abomination to have the living (including your own family) hunt you down like an animal. She doesn’t have to struggle with her dark side of being undead because she’s a perfect little Light princess.
But now she’s going to waltz in and lead a bunch of people that she can’t relate to and never wanted to lead in the first place.
Imagine being the Lich King’s sister. Imagine having both the living and the dead hate you due to that association. Imagine wearing the shame. Imagine being in hiding for years. Imagine being killed by the leader of the Forsaken while trying to reunite your people, both living and dead, after all this time.
