All 3 Hunter Specs Are Near the Bottom Before SoO Please Tune Hunters Before Siege

I am asking Blizzard to please review Hunter PvE tuning before Siege of Orgrimmar launches in Mists of Pandaria Classic.

Right now, Hunter players are in an extremely frustrating position. Beast Mastery, Survival, and Marksmanship are all performing at or near the bottom of current MoP Classic PvE rankings. This is not one weak spec. This is not a situation where one Hunter spec is struggling but another spec gives us a strong fallback. This is an entire pure DPS class entering the final major raid tier of the expansion with no clearly competitive raid spec.

That feels incredibly unfair to the Hunter community.

Many of us chose Hunter for MoP Classic because we remembered the class being fun, mobile, powerful, and viable. We remembered Hunters feeling badass in MoP. We wanted to relive that experience in Siege of Orgrimmar — not walk into the final raid tier feeling like all three specs are among the worst possible DPS options in the game.

Hunters are not asking to be the best class in the game. We are not asking to be overpowered. We are asking for at least one Hunter spec to be meaningfully competitive before SoO launches.

This matters even more because Siege of Orgrimmar is the final major raid tier of Mists of Pandaria. If Hunters enter SoO this far behind, Hunter players will spend the most important raid tier of the expansion feeling like a liability in progression groups. That is not healthy class balance. That is not good raid diversity. And for a pure DPS class, it feels especially bad.

The issue appears to be more than simple player execution. Current Throne of Thunder data and class rankings show Hunters struggling across the board, and the problem has been discussed repeatedly by players. Hunters also appear to scale worse than many other DPS specs with gear, trinkets, and raid mechanics. If this trend continues into Siege of Orgrimmar, the gap may become even more visible.

Please consider targeted PvE-only tuning before SoO. Possible areas to review:

  • Beast Mastery single-target and pet scaling
  • Survival cleave, AoE, and overall scaling
  • Marksmanship baseline damage so the spec is not effectively dead in raids
  • Hunter interaction with trinkets, set bonuses, and late-expansion stat scaling
  • A small PvE-only Hunter aura adjustment if spec-specific changes are not possible before launch

Again, this is not about making Hunters dominant. This is about making Hunters viable, respected, and worth bringing to raid in the final MoP Classic tier.

It genuinely feels unprecedented to have a pure DPS class where all three specializations are at or near the bottom at the same time. Hunter players planned to experience MoP Classic with a class that felt fun, strong, mobile, and raid-viable. Please do not let Siege of Orgrimmar launch with all three Hunter specs buried.

Perhaps, and perhaps not. A duplicate doesn’t in any way make the facts less important. Hunters historically scale worse than other classes, but my sense of it is that the class is further behind where it was in the first MoP go-round. I distinctly remember being an asset to my raid group back then, and now I feel equally replaceable.

As the OP said, not asking to be top dog, but we’d like to be in the race at least. Hunters need a bit more love.

Statistically they’re in the middle of the pack as of right now and according to PTR sims they’re simming as well as the bulk of classes in T16 BIS. Now will that fully portray on the meters, no, because they’re generally assigned to assignable mechanics.

Although, the 3 worst simming specs currently are Ele, Arms and both DK specs. I get the shaman and warrior being down there due to their massive aoe potential but 1 of the 2 DK specs need a bump if anything. That’s coming from someone who raids on an Ele and 2 warlocks weekly.

The only changes you will get are whatever they preplanned at launch in the cycle. Unless hunters are like one shotting bosses in SoO I wouldn’t expect a change and even then it probably would be pretty slow to roll out. So everyone with a hunter would have a couple solo SoO runs under their belts and their friends would have as much gear as they could pack into them on those runs.

I know it sounds dumb.. but we are talking about MOP development here. How dumb can you mange to do it is kind of the goal as far as I can tell.

I think hunter is mostly fine, honestly. They just really need to nerf aff, which is the only outlier, and a big one. Crazy that the utterly broken multidotting spec is also the best on a fight like Jin’rokh.

Shamans and warriors also have unique and powerful raid dps CDs and very strong utility. I agree, DKs need a buff.

DK’s just not gonna get brought next tier. No unique mass grip util in SoO to my knowledge.

I do wish banner was weaker so arms could be a real dps but we also don’t scale off anything except crit (which we’re already capped on, hurray) so we’re just doomed.

there’s a whole bunch of grips but if that matters or not is one thing, its not like lei shen where u need stuff to stack, i think you’d bring at least one though

I could see some funny stuff in speedruns with 2 dks just for spoils to be able to mass grip an entire room. That’s kind of it though.

Affliction needs a nerf, hunter a dk need a slight buff. Outside of that balance is overall good, but i think it would FEEL better if warrior and shaman raid dps cds would show the damage bonus they gave as their dps. Which is partially an addon/warcraft logs issue, but blizzard could make it easier for that to be tracked. By simply making it show the bonus separately in the combat logs

Are hunters at the bottom on prog or 1 heal 2 tank 7 dps farm clears?

Bring hunters! They can do the mechanics while we zug zug!!! Look momma I am the hero!!

I sense a conveyor belt in my future, among other distractions. Even so, SoO is/was a really fun raid.

Please buff hunters, locks, pallys and mages. All specs.

They are not balancing anything. They wont even revert anything.
