The initial wheel in the Potion and Flask tabs provide +2 skill to their applicable productions for each KP invested. Flasks have a second wheel that provides skill as well.
Combined with the initial 50 KP in Alchemical Mastery that should get you to a point where each of your three daily KP offerings require 50-80 Concentration each, which can generally be made up every day.
If you are spending Concentration on Patron Orders that do not provide KP, you are wasting effort by lengthening the process.

Alchemy skill requirements can seem crazy compared to the other professions because, for reasons known only to Blizzard, for each type of herb required for the craft the skill cap increases by 80. This is also why sometimes you work on a single wheel, or rank up a single herb, and it does not seem to have much effect on the craft skill.
All other professions there is a single skill cap consistent across all like-type crafts.
