AI Bots ruining the Auction House

alternate possibility: their access to log data and AI tooling permit them to rule these players out as not violating the rules

Every time Blizz (or anyone else) figures out how to detect a bot, someone programs a better bot.

Eventually, the bots themselves will constantly build better bots, and the bots will rule Azeroth forever. The End.

I’m sure something is there but people would be surprised how many people where WoW is their life basically. They make cancelling and rescanning etc a hassle.

Don’t forget a lot of things are region-wide… so you are dealing with a lot more people all at once.

Speaking of bots: How long do you think it will take before they program a bot capable of playing PvP better than the best flesh-and-blood player?

it could be done now.

For the record, and so no one misunderstands: I’m not condoning botting. Botters should be banned. But I also realize it’s kind of a royal mess of a problem. It’s a bit like an antivirus keeping up with viruses at best. And it’s going to get way worse as AI advances.

botting is against the rules. should be simple to determine botting behaviour.

i agree with both parts of your statement! which leads me to believe that they have investigated and concluded that it’s not botting.

And that’s why the solution is so simple:

If you buy something off the AH… it becomes (edit: WARBOUND) soulbound. You wanted it, you bought it, it’s yours.

You end degenerate flipping and AH-bots overnight.

People can still buy things on the AH. People can still sell things on the AH. This has absolutely ZERO negative impact for “real” players.

There might be 6 people in all of WoW that buy something for a friend? I guess… sorry about that… sometimes you have to focus on the greater good. But seriously, how often does that happen?? I’m willing to make that sacrifice.

Blizzard is known for being thorough and effective.

This is intense but I actually like it. Scalpers btfo, go speculate on crypto not digital eggs.

Y’all really think Blizz would allow botting on the AH?

I’m sure tthey watch the AH like a hawk folks, no doubt about it.

This actually is a very, VERY good idea IMHO. You should promote this somewhere Blizz actually will see it. Maybe I’ll drop it in the suggestion box.

You can just give the friend the gold.

I’ve been saying this for … I think early DF was when I first had the idea.

And I mention it 3-4 times a year. Every time ..omg I invariably get nothing but pitchforks and torches. lol

This is the very first time anyone has been receptive to the idea. Like.. even a little bit.

Times change.

I like how it’s not bots anymore, but “AI bots”

Just a revision: Make it warbound. Just for sanity’s sake.

Sorry yes. That seemed obvious to me. Just that “things being Warbound” is still kinda new to my WoW-thinking.

I like it, this is a real solution.

I made a separate thread for discussing this.
