AI and MMORPGsg

Gross.

What I would love to see is Blizzard improve content pipelines with AI enhanced workflows.

The first NPC I’d talk to would most likely be thrall. I’d ask him how the saying ā€œthralls ballsā€ began. :joy:

I’m too old for this to be anything except creepy. lol

So you dislike role play in an rpg?

Kinda weird but to each their own…

I am a roleplayer. I roleplay with people. Not a computer.

The NPCs would assist with the role play by adding improv

you have certainly captured the attention of third graders and shareholders with this one!

AI is the future. Get with it or get left behind

Which, again, I think is creepy.

Not my future. I’m going to firebomb it

Machine writing would lack the nuance of real human experiences.

AI techbros are going to be what finally kill humanity

Not some epic and dramatic AI uprising, but the gradual encrappification of standards brought about by uncreative and soulless slop making us too depressed to stop the data centers consuming all of our drinking water while poisoning our air

What a loathsome idea.

Would take way too much processing power and memory. Maybe in 20 years something like this will be possible.

Do you think this water is destroyed or do you think it’s released, treated and put back in the cycle? Or is it evaporated?

This is already being tested/implemented in other games.

In WWM, there are NPCs that you can have a text conversation with that have their own personalities and goals. You can chat with them and try to give them advice or resolve one of their problems. If you do that successfully, the NPC becomes friends with you and mails you in-game rewards every week.

The main limitation is that the AI model being used is cheap and dumb, so the conversations can be a little loopy. The compute requirements are too high to use anything fancy at the moment. Obviously that’s going to change as the technology progresses.

This tech is absolutely coming and it’s going to be revolutionary for RPGs in particular.

I agree, it’s coming and it will be transformative for any game with RP in it.

Now we need neuralink to make a full dive helmet and I can live out my very own SAO fantasy lol

I’m a bit skeptical that I’d actually be able to afford to play a game that made reckless use of AI agents once the creators of those AIs start expecting a return on the gigantic investments they are currently making.

Just like all other tech, it always becomes cheaper over time.

Do you think that’s an instant process and the consumption can’t outpace the restoration?

Also interesting how you fail to address the entire rest of my post
