Ahem. Devs. There are too many buttons!

funny thing is you can actually do modifiers in 2 ways

You can bind them to your action bars like i’m sure most people do

or you can use macros, example:

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift]Counter Shot; [mod:ctrl][@focus]Counter Shot; [mod:alt]Aspect of the Turtle; Cobrashot

I mean I have close to that amount but I bind all of my abilities.

Different builds just have different buttons and not all of them are used 100% of the time.

I used to do that to clean up the UI. I was thinking that might be a bit advanced if he’s just now learning about modifiers.

i’ve thought about it, but i hate writing macros lol

I’d probably break my keyboard in half if i did that with everything some things I just click like hearth and don’t care. Not to mention I literally can’t remember that many keybinds my mental isn’t that strong.

I think the big issue is if you want to go and change your binds makes it a lot more time consuming.

Plus having to do it on rogue in Cata was vomit.

also, if you write them, then forget to /reload and crash, they don’t save

I have no issues with button bloat save for a few classes/specs. Shaman, Resto Druid, and Holy Priest come to mind.

That looks like coding and I’ll tell you most people that aren’t tech savy would look at that and be more confused than it’d help. Just like the people that tell you it’s easy to build a computer, and to that I’d say sure bud not for a lot of people out there lol.

I’d actually need a course in macros to understand that stuff better and maybe I’d get it a bit more.

Just like weakauras which is so damn confusing i have no idea how to set up a thing in it other than maybe copy someone else’s stuff they already did. It looks like the controls in a nuclear power plant to me I kid you not.

When I say everything I mean combat abilities. I don’t keybind hearthstone

But I do keybind mens/revive pet and anything I could need in combat.

You don’t start with all of them at once. I usually recommend starting with a 4 or 5. Maybe just your main rotation and then going from there.

I have spent a ton of time on target dummies just getting rotations memorized. (That isn’t super needed unless you’re doing a lot of group content)

For the sake of demonstrating my point; this is the rotation list for Feral (literally just Googled to get the first result of a Druid-guide for a specific specialization on Wowhead).

No, you don’t have more than 30 unique abilities that you need to keybind.

Sure, I have … I don’t remember how many but last time I counted it was upwards of 35-45 of 'em, mostly just because I like to have everything consolidated with as little hand movement as possible.

The point I made in regards to the OP though is that they are using “keybinds” to refer to “unique abilities I have to use to play the game.”

For the full gameplay rotation, I probably only use 1-5, + Ctrl + Shift, AQWWERDFVCXZ, and a few more. Most of which I only have one modifier for making them either 1-per-1-key, or 2-per-1-key. Then we have mounts, out of combat effect, shift to change to professions, and so on and so on.

How the OP is using the word keybinds isn’t how you, I, or other average players use the phrase keybinds. That’s largely my point.

Just because a button is not in the PvE rotation doesn’t mean I don’t have it or use it. I have more than 30 abilities that I use regularly on more than one class. You are arguing with a fact.

more buttons for Shadow Priest please
at least two more, we could use an extra rotaion button and another spender for Insanity
please and thankyou

Ahhh

I didn’t catch that and that explains.

Which is funny because Druid actually has bars for different forms so it’s easier to keybind. Imo.

What do you mean that looks like 100 keybinds with a notepad next to you open at all times to make sure you did the right thing.

This is like doing a preflight inspection and spooling up the jet engines lol and then taking off from an aircraft carrier and winding back to land O.O That’s a lot of stuff to keep track of jesus.

honestly building a computer IS that easy nowadays, you can’t even stick things in the wrong spots anymore :stuck_out_tongue:

but yea, there’s a reason that you can find macros/weakauras already made, because it can be confusing

rotations written out like that tend to look crazy, but in practice aren’t that bad

Heh you’d be surprised man I can prob insert the power cable in the wrong slot and burn out the button even still.

And yeah the feral rotation probably isn’t as bad as it looks but that still looks insane.

Sub and outlaw are probably the two worst.

Listening to my RL and our new trial rogue talking in discord last night made me glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Getting too old for it.
