i am not defending it by any means, im just trying to help others not buy a level 80 item on accidently like i did.
I agree, this should be fixed but until then, the work arounds i listed a few times work very well.

I’m not sure what the little tantrum is about, but you’re not mousing over an actual listing. Keep throwing your baby tantrums at people who can’t actually address the issue and are only trying to help you not waste gold though. You’re obviously not worth talking to.

FYI you are still mousing over the wrong part. Yes, if you mouse over the giant item icon at the top in the individual listing, it will still show you the tooltip in the main search. What people are trying to say is that you will see a different item tooltip as soon as you mouse over any of the priced items in the list below, and only that tooltip can be trusted.
There’s no fixing this because it would require Blizzard to split out all armor pieces of the same name which defeats the purpose of the AH categorization. What would help more is having a “required level” column in the individual item’s listing which would alleviate the need to mouse over.

We’ve already tried explaining that. Any explanation is considered an argument in here. There is no enlightenment sometimes.
I actually wonder if they leave this bug in intentionally because it also messes with AH addons.
I was able to get ilvl to unlock heroics pre-season on every alt I leveled super cheap, often 100g or less per slot, some 400g by buying those greens. I never had to farm normal dungeons at 80, I just bought AH greens and instantly got to a queueable ilvl. Those prices were so cheap that the disenchanting mats made more gold, but for some reason they didn’t all sell out instantly.
I’m not sure if people just overlooked them or if AH addons couldn’t scan for them correctly because of the issue that causes them to be displayed incorrectly and unable to be accurately filtered even by the game’s baseline AH (like useable filter).

I’ve given up on buying gear from the auction house. Even when I click through and find an item of the level I want, it is level 80 required in my mailbox. Every single time.
It is all just a waste of gold at this time. I’d put my characters in the PVP greens but I don’t even know how to get those recipes in the game.

It isn’t really a big deal though. Other people trying to make gold don’t get mine.

Exactly. A while back I bought an entire outfit for my undergeared Hunter who was level 70 at the time. The mouse over said that everything I bought was level 70 gear but when I went to the mailbox everything was level 80.

At 80, I can usually craft any gear I need. The stuff from the auction house usually ends up disenchanted.
