I have been playing since 2004. My original WoW account is tied to my overall Battlenet account. I believe this particular WoW account is slightly younger approx 2010.
I understand Blizz aren’t directly at fault due to laws being passed/enforced in various countries, however I still wanted to express how thoroughly displeased I am about this!
EDIT: Unfortunately I didn’t take screen shots and I was very surprised when I did a topic search on this there was no other posts, so I am not sure if this is something that has just been implemented very recently. I received these notifications on WoW Forever Beta in game client but I am assuming I would have got this in any version of the game.
Well I really don’t want the convo to go in a who votes for who direction, but no one voted for this, as its safe to say regardless which side of the voting spectrum you sit on, I doubt there are many who are for this.
These policies are getting pushed through regardless of how unpopular they are with the general masses.
Additionally the post was also about the logic of it, chat still works, age of the account, but the verification stops me from mailing alts on my own account?
It is, actually, because it’s one big interconnected web meant to take adults’ rights away under a pretty guise.
As with all of these systems, they will always be messy and causes losses, hiccups, and every other manner of issue until they’re ironed out after implementation to better figure out how to more coercively implement it so the cattle won’t complain.
I don’t think they’re giving the people a chance to vote against these laws. Otherwise, 90% of them would instantly be shut down.
There’s a saying from a founding Father of the USA. “Those who would trade a little bit of freedom for security deserve neither.”
The truth is that the people passing these laws do not care about the children, nor us. They are doing it for absolute power. And it’s only going to get worse.
That’s still going to happen, don’t think we need to be worried that a few highly exploitative and prolific suppliers are being strapped with a soft wall.
I had to give my social for a soft background check so that I could have gas to keep my family warm. In a blue state. I just…can’t bring myself to prioritize the opsec of gooners at this stage.
Buddy, this ain’t a Democrat/Republican thing. The EU is trying to pass a “child protection” act that effectively outlaws Linux, requires everyone hand over multiple forms of ID to connect to any online service, and outright bans the hosting of private servers.
Every western government hates you because the only thing they care about is staying in power while the line goes up, and a populace that’s allowed too much independence is an obstacle to that. Any politician that claims otherwise just thinks you’re too stupid to see through their lies.
I mean…it all comes down to what you are willing to swallow and what you’d like to see the other side swallow these days, doesn’t it?
Voting hasn’t been about getting things for everyone in quite some time, it’s been about what you can stomach taking yourself as long as the opposition has to live with it as well.
However, these age verification laws in the last couple years aimed directly at “adult content” have been from those places in the US which are red in nature.
