always poop with your pants down!
As I like to say, always cool seeing the elders play games. Itâs the cutest thing.
Your name is the best lmao.
Iâll be 67 in May and been playing since 2012. I am a solo player and have stayed away from the toxicity of some of the guilds. I got kicked from a guild just because I didnât want to do anymore dungeons one night after we had been doing dungeons for over 4 hours and I hadnât done a thing I had planned to do. Woke up the next morning with no guild. Created my own guild and have been playing that way ever since.
We call ourselves Shadows of Lordaeron.
We are on DrakâThul, Hydraxis, MokâNathal, Silvermoon, and the associated battle group.
We raid Tues/Wed from 9pm est till 11:00-11:30. We have the most older folks playing then I have ever seen. We joke, we have fun, and most importantly, we help out. Some have compared us to Azerothâs Retirement home.
Our guild leaders are Cirdle-Terenas and Irielle-Hydraxis. Cirdle himself is a Vet.
We would welcome any and all folks. Young, Old, Vet or otherwise.
Also. We are Alliance. I forgot to mention in my previous reply (Moonpie) also I was logged into the wrong character. Because I am Derp.
Solo shuffle for me is awesome. Or bgs. No need to perform that well. Just folllow group and kill, or heal
I do a lot of exploring and picture taking. This expac has a lot of neat things going for it, even if you donât like the storyline.
Even the raid is actually fun (even in LFR mode). I quit using a dps meter this expac and have no idea where my dps is on my DH. So for once, I had fun instead of worrying about my numbers.
For the first time in years, my characters are interested in fishing.
Thereâs even potential for community events with the dragon riding. I could totally picture people making dragon riding contests.
55 here, been playing on and off since release night in November 2004. Lots of breaks in there.
Like many I mostly solo. WoW has certainly gotten more action/QT like in its combat over the years. That has happened for many reasons â adapting to new competition in online gaming that was more twitch-oriented, better tech reducing latency allowing for more twitch in online games, player skill improving which made old combat boring, and appealing to younger more twitchy players. But itâs been fine, generally, as long as one avoids group content.
MMOs in general are âolderâ in their playerbase â the basic model is an old one, and has some appeal for younger players, but much more limited than the appeal MMOs had in their heyday in the late zeros. Itâs really more of a niche genre now, and the niche skews significantly older, so I have never felt aged out in an MMO really. Some content is too twitchy for me, but I also know that the genre in general has a lot of players in my age range still, and so it doesnât feel as aged out as, say, an FPS does. FPS feels impossible at my age honestly.
Just turned 46 here. I was 27 when i started playing WoW at the end of Vanilla. I played through every single expansion and took a break after WOD. I never played legion or BFA when they were current. I started up again during the pre patch for SL and quested and caught up playing the story on two different toons through legion and BFA. Was pretty active early on in SL cause i was coming off a 2 and a half year break and really missed everything WoW. So at first it seemed great. Then the plot holes and the whole asthetic of the game were a big turn off. The overly complicated borrowed power systems were just to conduluted for me to wrap my head around properly. So midway through SL i would just stop playing for a monthâŠthen I would pick it back up. Then I would quit. Much like the OP I wanted to play, but I just couldnât make myself play because to me the game was just to jacked up and not doing what I wanted to do.
Usher in DF. I preordered and was stoked. Now I am at a crossroads. I canât decide on a main. I have more responsibility at home now (My wife and I had 5 kids) So my play time is limited to after they go to bed at around 8 central. Then on top of it I am in Grad school so I have homework. So I literally only get to play 3 to 4 nights a week for 3 to 4 hours tops. I canât do the marathon sessions I did as a single man lol. Sadly. I think DF is great so far. I love the story and questing. I just need to nail down a main so i can dive in full hearted and really get back into it. WoW is something I need in my life to stay sane. Sadly WoW has ruined every other video game for me. I just donât want to devote the time to something that is going to end in a month or two or 6. Wow has been there for me since 2005 and isnât going anywhere. So I donât mind spending the time. I hope to still be playing wow when I am 71 if i live that long. Kudos to you OP! Judos to you!
Absolutely looking into you. Thank you for mentioning youâre ally, I was about to roll a horde toon. Ha!
Itâs good to see this. I am 61 and have been playing since late 2006. I also prefer solo play, have had way too many toxic experiences in groups, although I do enjoy raiding occasionally. Am also currently guildless, although I have been in Guilds often in the past.
How DARE you enjoy a game I donât like and is gonna to fail?!?!

Back in the day I remember a guild like that called Get Off My Lawn. Hilarious and awesome group of people!!
Solo player does not need good gear. Ypu shouldnt be able to mythic plus and raid level gear just because you do not want to be part of a team and compete in higher level content. Want better gear raid or do mythic plus.
thnx glad to be still playing
Probably older than that. My father enlisted in WWII at 17. He would have turned 97 this year. He had more than 30 years active duty and saw combat in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
I think FF14 might be better suited for you since theyâre making a lot of old stuff solo friendly as well as current stuff with a heavy story focus that still references stuff from the base game story. Raids arenât bad either on normal.
WoW has always been more for hardcore.
You may enjoy ESO, they have a much more simplified combat system now from when it launched (ironically why most of the players who loved it quit the game) and itâs very story heavy with extremely nerfed but albeit fun. And it has full controller support. My friend got arthritis and made the swap and really enjoyed it but it wasnât for me sadly.
People say FF14 but the game unironcally has 10 million buttons on every class and combos which imo is not my idea of a simplified change for anyone not liking the toxicity or difficulty of wow. But I suppose you can just do all the simple content with bots as groups.
This is going on the living room wall, much better than âlive, laugh, loveâ
