After leaving WoW for nearly a month and playing FF14 - here's my critical evaluation and comparison of the two games along with the MMORPG genre as a whole

It sounds like OP is projecting their issues with Warcraft to other games, even though those games do their own things instead of trying to be a “better WoW.” The age of the WoW clones has ended with SW:TOR’s failure at fulfilling its initial ambitions. (And SW:TOR itself has largely moved away from being a WoW clone since it became F2P.)

In general, I can tell you that people in FF are extremely satisfied with their game and their development team. Heck, they don’t even complain that much about their cash shop. (Which is greedier than ours by the way.)

Same with TESO, I didn’t play it as much but people seemed pretty happy with the state of their game. I haven’t seen a bunch of doomsayers calling the MMORPG genre dead or doing free advertisement for Ashes of Creation, like you see here or in other MMOs with systemic issues such as GW2.

Honestly if they just let us do old expansion content (Horrific visions, Timeless isle, Suramar, Broken shore, Garrisions) and have them be relevant to the current leveling/endgame that would be so bloody cool. I would love to log on and do visions, or go do the void invasions, or go do suramar stuff or hell just do a questline in a zone like Northrend and still get current rewards for doing so (like anima/stygia/decent gear). That would be amazing, and a great use of all this content they have sitting there doing nothing.

World of Starcraft

Three factions. 6 units per faction. You and another player can fuse during combat to become an archon…etc

I keep seeing people talk about Ashes of Creation, that’s not going to even be out for several years isn’t it?
