Afrasiab stain on WoW

Alliance players were putting up signs around him…Horde were killing him over and over while the Alliance sat there and did nothing to stop them…I agree it should be removed…

there would be a really good story in this for someone, if indeed all the other people with npcs had them removed with these allegations and WoW team just ‘protects’ this one. It really makes me think nothing will change.

For real…Swifty’s NPC was removed day after reports came in but later proven not true and his NPC is not back in the game as I have read lately…

Guess we’re just gonna have to burn 'em.

We should get rid of any mention of Oda Nobunaga in samurai games. He was a deplorable monster of a general and should be treated as such.

Who now?

You’ll probably be terrified to find out that many of the people you admire are human and flawed and sometimes do bad things.

The fact people are uninstalling the game over this just proves how pathetic humanity has become.

I’m more shocked anyone is surprised. Furor Planedefiler was a complete tool in EverQuest too, iirc he got so buttmad over a paladin out-tanking his warrior he either tried to crash the server and/or staged a warrior protest. He’s one of the people who thought hybrids shouldn’t be as good as pure classes.

Go search his rants from the EQ days. This shouldn’t be any surprise.

I feel you, OP, and I’ve taken the week to sit with this. I think each of us will have to decide where we think the best course lies. I fully understand not wanting to continue in the game. I’ve listened to a lot of posters here and the lineup of YT people I watch on the subject. I’ve talked to my guildies about it.

In the end, it’s gotta be one of those things every person chooses for him/herself.

I find a lot of wisdom in Hazelnutty’s take on it, and my guild leader and I had a nice long talk about it, too. We don’t play this game for them. We play it for each other, and at the end of the day, there is value in staying a part of communities like this one and demanding better.

Having said that, I totally get it and fully support anyone who finds it necessary to leave. It’s heartbreaking stuff. It really is.

The burden of proof is on the people making the allegations. Its up to them to prove that he IS GUILTY, if they cant do that then he is presumed innocent.

No one takes someone to court just to stop people talking about misconduct. Because as these forums and YouTube prove, it never works. Any idiot lawyer knows that and would also advise him that doing so falls under criminal intimidation and AT BEST undermines his credibility in the case hes actually trying to win. At worst sets him up for serious criminal charges.

He was granted an order to protect him and his family from his alleged ‘victim’. That’s not a small thing. Courts don’t grant that just for the fun of it.

Her lack of an appeal or lack of a successful one also says a lot. Since that would be in front of another magistrate or judge.

This is the problem with allegations made by scorned people. I say people because my time in Family Court has shown me both men and women lie about crimes that should NEVER be lied about, repeatedly.

Im not talking about the cases where it could easily be as false as it is true, and we give one party the benefit of the doubt. I’m talking about cases like where one person makes a video of her coercing a 3 year old into saying ‘daddy hurt me’ and then according to her own testimony, handed the child back to ‘daddy’ for 2 weeks. Even sent him a text an hour after dropping her off to him saying that she took the child to the doctor that morning, she isnt well and can she sleep in his bed with him.

Did this the following week as well. All while stalking the guy and harassing the woman he started dating and demanding to be allowed to move back in with him.

He says no, she bashes on his window for hours and the police had to drag her away. He gets a restraining order and the following morning she reports that 2 week old video to police. Tells them the date she made it, what she did afterwards (doc visit, handing kid back).

But it doesn’t matter, once an allegation against a man gets out - that’s it. You have random people who don’t know the guy only know the allegations or maybe the victim in some way. Targeting the guy with violence or worse. Employers that have online presences cant afford to have someone with that rep in their company for fear of public backlash.

I’ve seen clients be told by a family member that while they know they are innocent, that family member works with children or for a public and very political company and has to think about their own families financial security.

Believing and spreading misleading or false information is life ending. You might think you have no accountability because you didnt start it and you werent involved in the actual incident you are just repeating what you’ve read/heard. But everytime a person repeats something false it puts someone in danger. You might not care about the person or have your own reasons to hate them, fine. But they wont be the only person hurt. Somewhere a woman or child loves that person and will either be separated from them or harmed in the crossfire.

I dont mind at all if the NPCs are renamed or anything but the quest lines have to stay.

There is no good reason to take content away from us

I would actually argue Lovecraft was less degenerate since despite his bad ideas I’m not aware of him ever actually doing anything wrong like in a physical sense.

alex afrasiabi was red in the face when interviewed by tradechat

your post history, there is nothing in there about alex afrasiabi. and i doubt you’ve been here very long if you think those kinds of things haven’t been in the game before.

If you’re sick about him, then you should be equally sick about every voice over that Metzen performed… You should be sick about everything at Blizzard because of Mike… They knew, regardless of what they’ve put out online. I’ve worked in corporate… people like Alex are known ‘stay away from’ types. They’re talked about in hushed whispers in the smoking area, the break rooms etc. They knew…
