So if you actually participate in the tasks and tag as many enemies as possible up until the very last second you can easily get 200-300 extra rep per event. This means you can basically halve the time it would take to afk farm.
Participate=double rep
afk=half rep
Decision was easy for me. I’m 5000/18000 and if you think I’m not tired of running them well…
These time rifts have become the grocery trolley carts of wow.
I will say this, you can get a lot of cool collectibles. Why I keep plunking away after 200 or so rifts.
All Blizz has to do is add some kind of per player tracking, and if you don’t complete a certain amount, make it reasonable to complete, but not so little someone can tag 2 or 3 things, and if you don’t hit that mark, you are locked out of the time rift.
You only get rep if the current event is a “kill enemies” event.
Otherwise, nope.
AFKers do not hinder your own experience.
It is all bad rep anyway.
You get Sadormi rep from doing the new mega dungeon.
Imagine if the heroic gives rep just like the mega dungeon. In the next patch that comes out, you can chain run the heroic dungeon and get 300 rep a boss.
If you have all the things you need from flakes.
I guess I’m waiting for the heroic version, then. I am 10k rep short of max’ing out Soridormi rep and I have, incidently, been given almost every xmog (that I don’t even care about anyway, manually bought all mounts/pets, minute one pet that I got randomly).
I am getting visibly irritated over doing this on the hour, every hour, for PATHETIC rep gain.
is it possible some group leaders are using some sort of add-on that checks your damage during these events?
twice now I’ve found myself kicked from group within a few minutes. I did notice that both time I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find mobs to attack, but kept getting to them too late to get any sort of tag in.
I very clearly remember one time seeing absolutely no mobs at all for the first minute. it was either major lag or some sort of random bug. mobs appeared after that time, but I immediately found myself kicked from group before being able to hit more than a few mobs.
I’m just curious.
I’d never AFK an event like this, I actually enjoy doing it and see no point in doing it if I’m not actually going to participate.
Didn’t the soup event have a quest where you had to participate in like 4 or 5 objectives of the event? Can’t see why something like that was not implemented.
But then again everything this patch that went live was clearly rushed, and other things were not done on time.
If people want to afk and spend more time doing rifts let them, theres plenty of people who actually do them
Considering the dungeon gives the rep, when this becomes a mythic+, rep won’t be an issue, lol. At least for those doing pluses.
It was 5 participations, to be more precise.
Just shouting “Yes, chef!” by clicking the action button at the beginning counts as a participation, so you only need to complete 2 tasks - 3 "Yes, chef!"s + 2 completions.
This is also much easier to track since it’s not really a group task but a sum of individual tasks that contribute to the overall clearance.
As for why they didn’t do it that way? Design, scope etc.
I’ve been checking this and have found that the amount of rep/flakes you miss out on by not doing the events is very minimal. I estimate it to be at most around 100 rep and about 200 flakes due to the fact that most mobs die far too quickly for you to get credit for their individual deaths.
I also worked out that you get the exact same rep and flakes for event completion regardless of whether you were afk or not. About the only time you actually have to pay attention is for those events that are 1 person specific to you, as those events will block your progress until the full timer runs out.
On top of all that, most shards will at least 1 chest the event. So most people being afk will probably cost you around 175 flakes (the rare+epic chests), which is a sizable chunk. However most people by now have all the cosmetics they want and are now either just grinding the rep for the achieve or gear for alts. But the gear is blocked by the completely separate dilated time capsule currency (the main source of which is not from the events, but from the weekly quest).
So all in all, at this point of the events life cycle (its been out for about a month?), there really is no appreciable penalty for 100% afk’ing the event.
All that being said, its at least not as bad as the dragonbane keep or researches under fire events which are 100% afk’able.
No it didn’t. The yes chef action bar was only for a speed boost. It had nothing to do with it other than to tell you that you had an objective.
The five you had to do was for a weekly. It had nothing to do with the individual event itself or how much rewards a reputation you could get… That was based on the timer And you actually doing the objectives or someone doing them for you if they were kills/timed to finish
Every objective you completed gave you credit in rep whether afk or not
Honestly they should have put in more earnable cosmetics, along with perhaps some upgrades (gear) for loot from the actual rifts themselves to get people more inspired to do them.
I went to one rift and there was legit no one else with me. Tried soloing it after waiting a while for more peeps, but it didn’t really go so well
lol
It still does. It counts as a completion for the 5.
I just did it.
In case it’s still not clear, I’m talking about the weekly quest here, that asks you to participate 5 times on the making of the Community Soup.
Just clicking the extra ability that gives you a 30% speed buff and makes the character say “Yes, chef!”, counts as a participation for that quest.
Heroics have lockouts just like mythic. You can get lucky and get it randomly but you cannot forcefully run it twice.
The yes chef credit was added later but not very recently.
I’ve been getting it ever since I started doing feasts, in 10.0.5 or 10.0.7.
Been a while.
