So I decided to level another warlock and to test out exiles reach. As I was leveling I noticed something about the spells that did not make sense.

You get Malefic Rapture at like level 6. But it is useless at that time. it does the exact same damage as shadow bolt because you only have one dot and its damage is based on the number of dots on the target, and it costs a shard. So there is no reason to press the button. Also, the only way you can get shards is from CoA, or the very less often from UA if it dies. (Well, actually, UA seems to be bugged. Even when things die, you still dont get a shard.)

But…!!! and this is a big but…you don’t get CoA until level 28. That means you cannot generate shards in combat as an affliction warlock until level 28.

Also, one of your level 15 talents and one level 25 talent are both based off of CoA, so both of those talents are pointless until you get to 28 and get the spell CoA.

So two talents and MR are both pointless until level 28. So you are basically just casting Corruption and Shadow Bolt, then eventually UA once, all day until level 28.

…You forgot about Agony. That’s two DoTs by level 6, and Agony generates shards. MR wrecks and is way better than casting SB when you’ve dotted multiple targets. You sure you lock, bro?

If you have dots on multiple targets, Rapture will damage all of them. So just dot a few things, then Rapture, and it’ll do way more than a Shadow Bolt. Even if you only have a single dot on a target (Corruption + Agony = 2, though)

Nah, your tripping.

Affliction has Corruption, Agony and Unstable Affliction, along with Malefic Rapture(and Shadowbolt) all learned by; level 13.

Also, It’s no longer “Curse of Agony”, it’s just Agony. This is likely because they gave warlock curses back and didn’t want them confused. Also, Agony is a shard builder.

But yeah, maybe you need to look under the spec specific part of your spell book.

You made it to the forums so I’m.nitbsure how you missed 2/3s of your spells.

Edit: and Unstable is not bugged it’s just the “shard on death” thing don’t kick in until rank 2 at like level 28 or whatever.

You’re confused, you get Agony at level 6, you get rank 2 Agony at level 28.

And like others said, you also use Rapture for AoE.

Also, you can get drain soul at 15 which gives you a shard.
