Yes mispeled quickly went from oh cool someone who can represent the classic forums to, oh, this is who we got? Dang
When was this?
What’s the point of this? Anybody who was on the fence about leveling won’t see this and suddenly load up the game. If anything the people that would have come back just aren’t going to anymore.
If folks leave or won’t return because they aren’t allowed to cheat anymore, then I feel we’d all be better off without them.
It was quiet because a SP boost is literally slower xp than dungeon spamming in a 5man
Thank god you’re not in charge of anything of importance.
I’m sorry you can’t cheat with your mage alt
Back in April there were a bunch of them who were strongly opposed to not having dungeon finder, ya know, the ones with like 150 plus likes vs the ones like sam and mispelled with like 2 likes lol. I’d imagine they are no longer community council members
If boosting is causing RMT issues, I agree that it should be removed. But I think the push back from people is due more to the lack of other reasonable alternatives to grinding out quests for 70+ hours. People want to play the game and experience it in different ways, but a long (in my opinion, boring) grind to get to the fun part actively discourages them from doing so.
IMO something needs to give, whether that be unlimited blizzard boosts, RDF, a toggleable xp multiplier, just something that incentivizes people to continue playing past their first/second character.
Exploitive gameplay should never be allowed. Especially to the degree that it’s been done in Classic.
And I agree that boosting should be reigned in, there just needs to be a reasonable alternative to replace it because as it stands, this isn’t going to force people back out into the world for leveling their alts. It’s just going to stop them from leveling their alts. Or give rise to some other form of boosting (i.e. level 101 twinks in Legion that sold dungeon carries).
People will 100% find some way to beat the system given enough time, especially if Blizzard’s slap on the wrist punishments leave them eating a week long ban, but gaining something significantly more valuable (i.e. RMT money, a max level alt, etc.).
We’ll have dual-spec, nerfed XP gains, heirloom gear… I think things should be fine.
Ultimately, if you want to play a class, you should level that class.
Oh yeah I completely agree I mean can you imagine if you only had to make one character And you could actually farm Gear for other classes on the same character you know.
How it’s easy to get Is ketchup gear on top of that let’s talk about the way money works it doesn’t actually matter too much because there comes a point where gold can’t buy you power.
The fact that you don’t actually get locked to a boss until you get a piece of loot In normals for that week.
Along with the hardest difficulties of the game only dropping transmog guidance effectively I think so many of these type of things are so much better than the way World of Warcraft is.
And that’s before we talk about Farming Imagine build a pick up a quest and then basically going into it it’s own dungeon holy Molly that’s so amazing and they all have these own interesting mechanics with it I mean it’s not perfect but it’s a hack a lot better than anything World of Warcraft has ever done.
Obviously the likes on those posts were manipulated. Just like every poll about dungeon finder that are all about 70% pro-lfd. It’s the biggest conspiracy since the moon landing (which clearly never happened).
Yep. Russian trolls did it I bet. They straight up snuck across a couple oceans, made us all vote a certain way, then made it all the way back to the mother land unscathed.
it wasn’t, but ok.
Stated Problems:
- Boosting Spam
- RMTs
Stated Solutions:
- Reduce XP for characters grouped with higher levels.
- Reduce ability to kite/snare.
- Report spammers
I feel like this is effectively driving a nail with a sledgehammer - I don’t see any issues with players selling their time in-game or with kiting/snaring mobs. The issue, in my mind, seems to be pathing that allows mages to take two steps and cause mobs to run for 2 minutes to get to them. If spam is still an issue after this is corrected for, maybe make a separate global channel for services (and guild recruiting while you’re at it <3 ).
The XP nerf will disincentivize max-level players from playing with their lower-level friends. Was any consideration given to this at all? I’m just a bit surprised it wasn’t addressed in the post - it makes me sincerely wonder if the group that greenlit this change has ever played wow. Do you not have any fond memories of helping a friend level a character with your max-leveled one? Does a change that disincentivizes players from playing with one-another not seem like a major, major red flag?
Looks like it’s been stated - but anything that can be bought with gold could potentially drive RMT, why not focus on eliminating RMTs (and botting) as opposed to drivers? I’d think if players were worried about their account being banned for a significant amount of time they’d be less apt to go the RMT route.
I’d propose more targeted solutions to these problems might be:
- Remove unintended pathing that facilitates boosting.
- Create a separate global channel for boosting (and other) services.
- Increase severity of RMT punishments.
I’m just concerned that if you keep developing the rough edges out, we’ll end up with SOM (or even retail) instead of Classic by the time we reach the end of Wrath.
I’m pretty sure it’s been proven a few times now that you are not only short-sighted on many aspects of World of Warcraft (Namely Classic) but also have incredibly pointless responses scattered throughout the forums.
Boosting has ALWAYS been part of the game, right from launch up to today; nearly 18 years of it. Boosting WILL continue to be a part of the game in finishing quests or obtaining certain pieces of gear. That, and the possibility of twinking out Paladins at specific levels to continue to boost for experience.
Additionally, why is in-game boosting bad, when Blizzard is literally selling level 70 boosts? That’s hypocrisy on a whole different level, friend.
Isolating “boosting” to just include paid runs proves you’re short-sighted on another aspect of World of Warcraft - not sure how you became Community Council, but it sure didn’t require a logic test. “Boosting” is a universal term that includes free runs - by implementing this nerf, Blizzard is giving the finger to the players that did free runs to HELP people. “Oh you’ve been looking for a tank for Ramparts for an hour? I’d love to tank for you, but I’m level 68 and Blizzard says I can’t tank for you without taking ALL the experience away!”
Taking into account all of their actions rather than a specific one, they’re trying to encourage players to buy the boost from them. They’re actively making it harder to play the game at lower levels.
That’s just dumb.
