they literally sell boosts. What is the difference?
One is limited and the other is unregulated.
Theres a big difference between a one time purchasable boost and the mage boosting we have now.
This was always my argument.
I think it is funny. Like this is an mmorpg, and leveling is part of the progression rites in order to do end game. I mean, wrath of the lich king was the pinnacle, and i do not really remember leveling being all that hard in this expansion.
I always treated leveling like a combination of like the real life equivalent of having a job, except it was much more fun and engaging. Like if there was a way to skip everything in the real world in regards to working and i had billions of dollars lying around, someone can gladly tell me about it. Until then, i will have to keep on working. 4 jobs over the last 15 years, they probably all stink then. It is amazing how much the casual definition has changed now since wow came out in 2004, to the point where people complain about retail wow not being easy enough.
At the same time with your post, it just makes perfect sense to me. Like if you don’t want to level up, then maybe wow isn’t the game for you. Likewise, these players do have the option of paying blizzard directly for levels. I don’t agree with it, but it is there.
I mean, if these types of people do not want to level up and do not want to buy the boost from blizzard, then i do not know what to tell them. Just like how there will never be an easy mode for bloodborne so i can play it. And i will never be able to end game in wow because i stink to much. That is to bad for me.
I also feel like if you are to lazy to level, how in the heck are you going to be confident enough not lazy enough to actualy do the coordination required to actually form competent raid groups. From my knowledge, wrath was pretty easy by consensus, but it still required a state of mind. It could take a while to form groups.
And i mean, not everything in a game is supposed to be fun either. Like those sons of hodir dailies are going to be super boring. But you have to do it. Oh well. Do it or don’t do it is my logic. Appreciate the easy stuff you can do and have at it at that point.
Why not just go ahead and put the xp buff in now?
So one is gated by players and the other is gated by how much money you can give blizzard for new accounts?
WoW has always been two games, leveling and end game, some people care more about one than the other. Personally I have far more /played at max level than while leveling.
This is false.
This was sort of addressed when Blizzard nerfed XP requirements to get through previous content during TBC and again during WotLK.
Heirloom gear also helped (but eventually this ended up being overdone.)
Blizzard really tried to improve the early leveling experience via the Cataclysm… but in doing that, they trashed the old world.
In short, it’s not a new problem. Players just figured out more ways to exploit things.
Good, ban them all for doing that so sick of seeing that type of spam.
That make sense. And would be #nochange many would like lol
The summer of XP. run most of the summer. I mean lets be honest…summer is almost half over. July 4th is coming soon. kind of midway to the end for those on a US schedule.
This is what final fantasy does. Since you only have one character you level each alt job faster.
They nerfed XP required to get to 60 for TBC. I believe we’ll be seeing another nerf for Wrath.
We will also have heirloom gear available, which helps.
Yeah I heard something about that but since I haven’t I’ve played it an OK amount but it was one of those things I jumped into it when the Exodus of wow was Happening.
If I didn’t have a Guild in tbc at the time If I’m being honest I wonder if I probably just would have stayed with them and never came back to world warcraft.
But then again the reality is I’ve played the scheme for 17 years going on 18 So I have a long history with them as well.
But still even still that’s a perfect point Then let that happen let the experience that you gain increase If for every single character that you level why is this a bad mechanic?
I literally use to have 2nd account with recruit a friend and boosted in places like SM back in wrath. Not sure about vanilla but assume it was around
That’s not quite the same as what boosting is now, is it?
No, your right. But its still boosting. Def not the same as what is going on today tho.
A person boosting their own toon is a bit shady. However, that was someone spending their own time, with their own accounts. There’s no exchange of “suspect gold” or anything like that going on. No spam… and it didn’t impact other players dungeon experiences all that much.
I played ff14 a lot during WoD and again when everyone else was last year and I keep coming back to wow because I find the gameplay so much more “tuned in” I guess. But I still really wish they would take more stuff like that from the game.
I think prepatch will be the best time to level. The 50% buff plus the better regen and wrath talents. The heirloom gear doesn’t count quest xp but this buff will.
Yeah, I plan to be leveling alts during that time.
