This. They time and time again continue to show that pvp is an afterthought. Pve already has vendors in game, yet pvp doesn’t so that one excuse is absolute BS.
Blizz just doesn’t have the integrity to come out and admit mistakes and say that they don’t care about pvp.

Are they so delusion that they think they are acquiring tons of new players? By far the majority of people that still hang on and play this game have been around back in the days when PvP vendors were commonplace.
Only a very small minority might be ‘confused’ by a PvP vendors. For the other 90+% of us…we would be thrilled.

He said what I have been saying since legion: that a vendor is not congruent with the way gear works in the rest of the game. I believe personally that it comes down to the ability for gear to titanforge or not. I.e., if it could, you’d have people trying to farm specific pieces that have “the best” stats on them over and over for titanforges. If it can’t titanforge, then gear that comes from any other part of the game is always going to be better because you might randomly get a piece 15 ilevels higher than you deserve. This isn’t me saying that I agree with it, btw. Just has been my suspicion for a while. They can’t just outright say this though, because it kind of reveals the string holding the carrot, so to speak.
I think the direction they’re going is okay. However, they need to improve the functionality of the trophies/upgrade tokens. I feel like if I’m going to get the same ilevel conquest reward regardless of my rating, I should get a token that scales dynamically with my rating to go along with it. At least starting at a certain rating. Otherwise basically everybody will have already outgeared the reward by the time they get it.
You can just imagine the teams in the Blizz HQ, talking about how mindless and angry and toxic the community is, constantly reinforcing each others’ PoV in an echo chamber with zero element of genuine challenge. Could be wrong but I doubt it.
At least with something like T2 wep or templates you could feel for them because tons of people disagreed on these issues. This one has a pretty clear consensus and the experience that vendors provide for PvP has already been tested and is highly successful.

Gear sets and trinkets were incentives for pvpers to pve, but didn’t make it mandatory. So if wanting players to experience the entire game is an issue, boom fixes. I honestly just think they won’t add vendors because people will get their gear in a few months, quit til next season, and repeat = loss of money
The new system is absolute hell for transmoggers. Is there even a way to get Season 1 pvp gear now that its over yet?
Marks of honor with a vendor eventually will come in. Trust me, blizz loves the transmog community so its not an if but a when.
OT WoD gearing, keep all pvp arena gear 385 ilevel in instanced pve and non warmode and 415 ilevel in instanced pvp/wm. Aspirant gear will be 360 and buffed to 400. Make a cap of 415 ilevel so if it titanforges and it’s 430 ilevel in instanced pvp it will be 415 ilevel. Gems won’t work in pvp also, like template/legion gems didn’t. PvErs can’t really complain either since we’re getting gear equal to normal raids so it won’t boost our ilevel. Even if you make it LFR ilevel and it’s 415 in pvp I wouldn’t mind, if I want to pve I’ll farm a new set from pve.
It’s not a hard system to do since they did it in WoD, I just think that blizz thinks if they make it easy to get pvp gear then pvpers will quit on them. So the carrot on the stick will stay with us to get us to keep playing, the sad part is that the pvp community will keep playing if they get fully geared. Now it’s about being on an even playing field and trying to see how high you can get in rating. So we will stick with this gearing system because blizz doesn’t understand the pvp community.

I think the old PVP ilvl inflation in PVP instances would be a good QoL change for a lot lot lot of PVPers who have grown old with the game, gotten a life, and can no longer pour huge amounts of time into it anymore, but I think that that change alone might not go so far towards bringing a whole lot of people back into the lower brackets and BGs than there used to be, back when getting honor/conq gear was a quick, fast, and easy way to get gear, not just for PVP but for PVE, too. I think we underestimate just how many people there were inflating arena brackets and providing easier kills in BGs, people who were only there for the gear. Now those people have a myriad of other options, and given the state of PVP since even pre-WoD, who can blame them for doing 2min WQ and getting a guaranteed higher ilvl specific piece of gear than they would have gotten from an RNG win in a 20+min BG.
I mean you can talk all you want about how the loss of spells and increase of both RNG and homogeneity has made PVP combat itself less enjoyable, but even if they did decide to address those concerns overnight, we would still be missing… 30?%? of those people who only were really after easy ilvl?
There are just so many other knock-on effects of the changes that have happened since WoD that I’m not sure we’ll ever really be able to get back where we were in terms of a really varied, skill based, and truly unpredictable PVP experience. Certainly not with this dev team and company leadership.
