Addons and Auras in Curse of Ula’tek

What problem are we trying to solve here with locking addons down so much? Is this for the 0.00001% of people who are in the world first races? Do I get a small advantage in mythic+ for knowing my tank doesn’t have a CD available so I should put my ironbark on them for the tank mechanic? I mean, I guess, but doesn’t that benefit the group? I’m sure the integrated Discord stuff will solve the communication issue and we won’t need addons.

Seriously, though, I legit had to take a several month break when 12.0 went live because it broke all the addons I either made, enjoyed tinkering with, or enjoyed having. And I just don’t understand WHY. You state combat automation as the reason, but the addons aren’t pushing the buttons for me.

I made a mod named Boxxy Auras that played a fun shake animation when a DoT debuff did damage to you. Purely visual, really loved how it felt. 12.0 broke that, no longer can be done. Alright, sad, but the main feature of the addon is to “hold” auras when you mouse over them so you actually have time to read the tooltips, which requires reading the tooltip and storing it so when you mouse over an expired aura, you can still read it. When I’m in a 40 man LFR my auras are re-sorting, expiring, several times a second, it’s essentially impossible to find the one specific thing I want to read. With these new announces changes, if I’m understanding correctly, THAT feature will now no longer work?

What a disappointment, man.

Since I’m already just yelling at clouds, if all the addons are going to break anyway, make the UI render 1:1 with the game resolution, that’d at least be very nice for my eyeballs/ocd.

I still see issues with the damage meter showing extreme differences at damage done between while in combat and after combat ended.

There is a problem that the data gathered does not make it into the summary when leaving combat. This was never an issue until end of TWW and the big addon purge.

As a healer who is also visually impaired and has significant trouble seeing low-contrast indicators I find having to dispel private aura’s that are all but impossible for me to see on my UI incredibly frustrating.

I fully support the idea that we shouldn’t need automation to play the game - but for the love of the light let us clearly show these indicators!

As a lifelong resto druid I need to be able to see who has what auras, big on my healing frames, and reminders when they drop. If you can make this happen then great! if not… I am losing trust in Blizzard being able to figure out what all classess need to be able to see to play the game. I used to use default frames in midnight, with Kbig debuffs and buffs to be able to see my spells. Midnight made me have to find a completely new batch of addons, and i had to rebuild my whole UI again. Sounds like im going to have to do the whole thing again, literally spend a week testing, and then be annoyed with all the changes again. Trust and faith in Blizzard is at an all time low for me when all I want to do is play the game and see my spells. I need pandemic reminders and hot reminders or minimum a visual and if you change it so my addons cant do that anymore and dont provide a viable replacement like you keep promising then legitimately I cant play this game.

Agree! im all for not having addons, if the game actually provides the things we need. WoW player base has a variety of accessibility needs and for some of us gaming is our lives because we cant leave the house or the world isnt built for us.

We need expanded shield status information to the base UI - so we can track the status of PW shield/Void shield and other absorbs properly.

( it currently just shows a white bar at the right of the health bar when there is any absor, even ones that are not mine, and that makes it hard to see if it is a 10k absorb or 200k absorb.

The base UI is almost good enough but it really needs this please!

I was testing Danders Frames on the PTR in case I want to switch to them (Grid2 still has no 12.1 update).

Unless they just haven’t implemented it yet, you still aren’t able to filter debuffs by spellID or put specific debuffs in specific locations. Only buff aura filtering seems to be improved.

IE: I can’t make a list of important M+ debuffs to put in a central icon so they’re more visible (particularly ones that aren’t dispellable and won’t be in that spot). Blizzard does have an important debuff category of their own, which perhaps will be better utilized in season 2 compared to season 1, but often there are debuffs in M+ that aren’t really important until you get to a higher level and they start to do much higher damage. I’m not sure you flag those as important. Perhaps if this is the best we’ll have you can selectively flag debuffs as important past certain difficulty levels when they start to quickly kill people?

Danders does have a system to highlight debuffs Blizzard flags as important and I can put things like the CC and important category into a central position, I just don’t know if that will include all the things I’d want to highlight myself.

Maybe you could let us flag debuffs as important in the dungeon journal under the abilities list for bosses or something and include those in the important category? It would also be nice to then show trash mobs in the journal and their abilities.

Edit: I also just noticed forbearance is flagged as a priority debuff, so that’s obnoxious. You should be able to control where this specific debuff shows up and be able to exclude it from major categories. Maybe it’s only flagged that way when you’re on a paladin, I can’t test it by myself atm.

edit2: I don’t know if this is a dander’s frames implementation issue or if it’s an issue with Blizzard that they can’t do anything about, but there is no way currently to distinguish between the two versions of holy bulwark. If I just want the main icon and not the blue absorb icon and try to add it to a filter by spellID using the specific ID of just the main spell, it simply adds a generic holy bulwark to the filter and filters both spellIDs with no way to distinguish between them and only show the one I care about. This is annoying because I do not need to see the blue absorb icon, I only care about the main buff and want to see it because there are mechanics in Lightsmith attached to that specific buff being present.

its for blizz raid department mad that weakauras solved the boss. just like the story is for some dev who is writing Alliance avengers. actual players are not the primary audience

These add on changes have made the game worse 12.0 then 12.0.5 was bearable .7 and 12.1

Let people play how they wanna play.

Addons make your over complicated game simpler and actually make adding that work.

damage meters cdm everything is horrible and buggy.
