a) You’re right. No game should rely so much on third - party support just to make it approachable. Its the single - worst aspect of WoW.

“Weak Aura’s” / “Tell Me When” to be able to play your spec.
Other than that seems like DBM ( Deadly Boss Mobs ) or something similar just gets in the way and are harder to learn in the content than just learning the content.
Some people probably get millage with a frames add on but I haven’t found one that a) defaults to the wow interface that I’m used to and b) has the all the bells and whistles to make it worth it.
But there’s not all the much learning “Mythic Plus” mostly just doing it a lot and learning every pull, boss, and dungeon.
You do not NEED addons to succeed in m+.
Heck the only thing I really use is details to keep track of damage. I don’t use WA and mostly ignore DBM.
As long as you know mechanics, you do not neeeeeeeeeeeeed addons. They are QOL.

No. Tbh most are QOL. Then you have raiderio for tracking score. Dbm for boss timers (all bosses have tells when something happens but dbm = lazy mode).
You can use WA’s for more QOL, but are absolutely not needed. I only used one for m+ and that was in SL for a specific boss so I didn’t have to type a lot mid fight (was literally a hotkey button for marking terminals for 4 people to click on)
That’s just practice. Practice the dungeons. Practice your class. If you know what the boss is going to do and when. What trash is going to do. How to react to those situations, addons aren’t necessary.
Tbh if you want to go lightweight addons. Dbm, raiderio, details, angry keystone, kui nameplates.

Add-ons aren’t necessary they just simplify the game for you. I’m also a supporter of a clean client the only add-on I use is VuhDo because I’ve been used to playing with it on my restoration shaman for a long time, but on my alternative healers, I manage without it.
Only one i use is io. Never needed anything elce
If i was a healer i may get a heal addon to help
