I agree with this sentiment.
However, they’re starting to introduce more ranged weapons with unique animations. The Water Gun from the June Trading Post, and the Thunderfury, Blessed Bow of the Windseeker bow from the July TP has special lightning arrows. If they can continue this trend with new bows/guns/crossbows then I don’t think there really is a need for weapon enchant effects on ranged weapons.
Blizzard really needs to up their game when it comes to player customization. They truly lack in this department compared to any other MMO.
Even EVE Online has a better character creation tool, and it’s a spaceship game.

I mean, Everquest is still around. Let’s not totally exaggerate lol.
I mean. comparing wow to a game that came out in 1999 and without much or any upgrades to the graphics and customization doesn’t make it better lol

The only thing I see preventing this is the same thing with ranged-weapon enchants, there are only a few specs that use them.
The only shield users I can think of are Protection Warriors, perhaps one of the Paladin specs (I don’t play Paladin) and, maybe, Ele and Resto Shaman who don’t use a 2H weapon.
