Actual female player, constantly being called a boy?

I only started posting on this character because it makes sense to post on your main. Gives a bit of weight to your arguments when people can see that you’ve done the things you claim to have done.

Eventually I just came to be known as this character. I don’t really care if you think I am male or female. If you want to say she because the avatar is female, cool. If you want to say he because you assume I’m male, cool. If you actually know my IRL gender you can call me that if you want. I don’t exactly make it a secret or try and hide that I’m male IRL.

Please don’t take it personally. I suspect I’m like most people, in that I just assume another player is a male unless I know otherwise. If you gently correct the person, (e.g. “actaully, I’m a girl/woman/female/chick”) most people will take it in stride.

BTW, you may not have thought of this, but there are some female players who don’t want it known that they are female, out of concern about unwanted attention.

Growing up, dude has always been gender neutral.

I always assume it’s a guy. I never say it however. You can often tell by the way a person write if it’s a woman or a man.

To avoid confusion, macro one of your main abilities to also /say I’m a girl IRL!

They assume you are really a g.i.r.l.= guy in real life.

Yes, guys do this to me all the time. No, I don’t care and I don’t correct them.

Sometimes if I’m feeling snarky I’ll call them “m’am” and/or “miss.”

Hmmm… Could be cultural or just where you are from then. I’m older than the average player, I think.

It wasn’t Gender neutral where I’m from. Could be now. I don’t use either term. It seems pretty immature at my age to use it.

um i say dude regardless of gender.

This is probably what’s going on. I’m a 90s child. We kind of adopted dude from the earlier folks.

I hope I never grow out of it. It’s a pretty approachable term.

Me too. I also say “guys” for both genders.

I feel for you I really do. People think I am a tauren and I get called that all the time. Every time I do a quest or hand something in. Its super tedious man.

Yeah i say dude to my wife sometimes she hates it but knows why i say it lol!

Just has a similar discussion with someone in Discord. I probably shouldn’t let it irritate me.

Wya baby got some vitamin D for you

I feel bad that I assume all female Tauren players are grandmothers.

IRL male here that typically plays male toons.

Back in TBC my AH/Bank toon was a female nelf until I got asked if I wanted to go to the inn. What ensued pretty much put me off rolling any more female toons for quite some time.

For me it’s the direct opposite >< I get some pretty unwanted attention and DMs… Sometimes I like it though when I get extra loot ^^!

I just call everyone ladies. Makes it nice and extra awkward.
