I more or less agree with you on this entire post. Especially the last comment at the end. It is sad but true. People should be able to trust a smile but now a straight face almost certainly gives the impression that you aren’t trying to sell something.
It’s pretty cool to think about how many people predicted a lot of the challenges we face in modern society and wrote a ton of material on it decades and sometimes even centuries before they took hold. Fun stuff.
