I’ve noticed several scripted bot accounts flying around on the server. I notice how they fly and land on farming nodes in angled paths. I’ve reported them every time i see them and they remain active for over a month.
I have right-click reported, emailed to hacks@blizzard.com and they are still active with no indication of their activities being removed/banned/stopped.
Either their actions are being tolerated/ignored despite the rules, or those within the department that handles these kinds of reports are not taking an intererest or taking it serious enough.
I know what guild they are from which makes it easy to track them as they remain active 24/7 practically.

Just report and move along. I know it seems like they aren’t doing anything about the problem, however it takes time to investigate and work out what they’re actually doing and what hacks they are using. Once they have all that information then the ban/ close the toon/account.

Sometimes after a ban they use slightly different named toons to do the same thing, sadly enough. If they’re the serious botters that is.

Exactly. It might seem in the short term that they aren’t doing anything or they don’t care. They do, but they need to look at the bigger picture. They can’t be concerned with how it impacts your individual experience; they need to look at the overall botting operation. So they observe and study the bots. They track where they’re run from and how they operate. Then in one big wave, they wipe out the bots and implement new security controls that allow them to quickly detect and purge the bots using that software.
Think about a law enforcement operation. If law enforcement is looking to take down an organized criminal enterprise, they don’t just arrest every low level criminal associated with the enterprise. They observe and infiltrate to find higher and higher ranking criminals until they are finally in a position to take down the entire organization. This means that dangerous drugs are going to be distributed, women are going to be trafficked, people are going to be killed. In the end, however, those are deemed acceptable losses in order to focus on the bigger picture.
