I wonder if Huokan will also be investigated for RMT now. Will this be the end of Boosting communities?

One can only hope.

Nah, though there will probably be more solo boosters for awhile

If they didn’t engage in RMT, why should they be banned due to the actions of the people that did?

RMT is not something that most high-end Cutting Edge guilds engage in.

They aren’t. Did you read the post?

“Going forward, accounts may receive actions if they are found to be involved in future transactions with Gallywix or are actively advertising it.”

Gunna press (X) to doubt on that one.

Did anyone even RMT tho? is this just a way for blizzard to make billions of gold dissapear from the wow economy?

Bold strategy to make an entire community a pariah on the backs of a few doing RMT under the table. Gallywix wasn’t even responsible for the majority of the boost ads that everyone hates in dungeon finder (though I’ve seen a few in trade).

I cannot speak for the absolute top-level guilds (Limit, Pieces, the guild formerly known as Method, etc.) but as someone who has raided at a US top 150 level in the past (the kinds of guilds that were members of this community just to make some gold on the side) and is currently raiding with a 2-day Cutting Edge guild, nobody in his or her right mind would engage in RMT if they don’t have the clout of being a world-renowned guild to fall back on.

You may have this crazy, romanticized notion that every guild that has killed Mythic N’zoth engages in RMT, but that’s absolutely not true. Most players who are doing this sort of content wouldn’t even attempt to dabble in that sort of stuff considering how strict Blizzard’s stance against it is.

They aren’t. The Gallywix community is not being punished, and are not if they did not participate. What is being punished is the Gallywix organization. If their organization is participating in RMT you can’t just let it continue to provide services for people.

how much gold did they owe ya’ll? are ya’ll even gonna collect even if they do payouts?

Blizzard needs to clarify all this. I read this blue post as “dont do anything with gallywix or get banned”

what about the carries that have already been done and they owe players and guilds gold for?

The organization or community, doesn’t really matter since both are made pariahs by virtue of Blizzard naming them.

I also have difficulty believing that the organization was simply a front allowing RMT considering they aggressively banned anyone they discovered doing it.

RMT is completely bannable. I hope, however, that Blizzard doesnt blanket ban and take action against those that traded gold for services. I don’t think anyone will disagree with bans for RMT, but a lot of people bought mounts, runs, whatever with gold.

Really sucks to say but I’d just assume that you won’t see that gold.

Hopefully it’s not a lot. :frowning:
