Pretty sure they’re only banning the people who ran the group. You’re still going to get spammed with groups selling carries.
I’m not sure who “we” is, but I’d argue that this is only a good start. Multi-level marketing should be explicitly banned from the game. The boosting is annoying, but not as annoying as the SAME message being spammed by twenty different people with tiny variations. "Boost spam boost spam boost spam, ".
So is this saying that even the for-gold runs and services and such are subject to punishment if carried out by the gallywix community?
I dont know how wide spread the RMT thing was but if it was just a select few within the group it seems a bit extreme to punish people for something that is allowed (the for-gold stuff not the RMT stuff) for everyone else.
The spam was annoying but the set up was well put together and prices seemed quite reasonable. Would be sad to see it fall apart if it was only a few people breaking ToS without anyone else knowing about it.

That’s how I read the announcement. That “community” is now unpersoned. Interact with it at your own risk presumably. I’m hoping they give the same treatment to ALL of the multilevel marketing sceheme communities popping up in trade these days.
I dislike boosting, but there’s a very large gap between a guild on a server selling boosts, and giant corporate style spam operations that flood every server with lowbies to trash up the place.
“We” in that context were the people coming in saying that they were nothing but spectacular and had no bad representations.

The blue post says, “[g]oing forward”. People aren’t going to be banned for carrying out or buying carries in the past, when they dealt only in gold and didn’t know there was RMT trading involved.
Going forward, this blue post means people have been notified that the Gallywix organization is an RMT organization, so they can no longer claim ignorance if they buy or provide a Gallywix carry. Their transactions, in the future, involve supporting RMT so they may be actioned.

Great job cracking down on these jokers Blizzard, and I don’t even feel the slightest bit bad for the people who are going to lose gold because they paid for boosting they deserve it.

Majority of the playerbase are completely fed up with the carry spam. Snarky remarks about the name of the chat channel are irrelevant.
I firmly believe that for Blizzard to come down like this on Gallywix, that Gallywix must have been using profits to fund the Hong Kong resistance effort.

Majority of the playerbase either turns off trade or just use something like badboy if they don’t want to see trade going on.
All perfect reasons why carry spammers need to be removed so they rest of the playerbase don’t need to disable entire chat channels or download third party addons.

I disagree fundamentally. We outcompeted the RMT groups in legion and made it unprofitable for them to run because their ads would get banned and people would rather come to me and pay gold than risk getting banned paying an RMTer. Now i’m out of the game because i can’t afford to replace my account if i get banned so i don’t do it, blizzard killed me as competition for them.
Far from making the situation any better it made it overall much worse. Now the RMTers are the only game in town i get drowned out by the gallywix and RMT spam in trade. Can’t advertise in the group finder cus i don’t have unlimited throwaway accounts like RMTers do.
I called this outcome on reddit before they actually implemented this change. And here we are exactly where i said we’d be. How’s your bed you like laying in it just to stick it to me? Nice and prickly and full of RMT spam for ya.

Naw, Blizzard is just butthurt because people are catching on to them creating artificial scarcity by removing a 5m gold mount forcing people to buy their RMT tokens. Let’s see those numbers - how much have you made on RMT since announcing the longboi removal Blizz?
Legion had real money trade and group finder spam for the entire expac. The only difference now is we also aren’t subjected to your spam that was completely unreportable because it was technically within the rules.
Should Blizzard do more to ban real money spam in group finder and trade? Sure, but the solution isn’t to reopen the flood gates to other spammers.
