Account Wide Debuff for Queue Dodgers (Supposedly) Incoming

From watching the Discord Q&A with Ion.

There will also be another PvP talent update coming later this xpac.

Ion wants to grow the PvP community from the ground up to be able to justify more updates for PvP in general.

Generally he was happy with the pacing of earning rewards in Season 1.

Just a few paraphrased points, there was other stuff but it’s hard to write down everything from memory.

The monkey paw curls as blitz becomes even more of a diceroll on whether you get the 2890 lobby or the 3350 one.

I cast 1k lobby with 3k player.

This on YouTube yet?

I think they’re almost out of questions but no as it’s still happening and I can’t rewind on Discord or Twitch sadly.

MrGM is streaming on his Twitch account so that will be rewindable once it ends.

  • Ion admits there have been some inconsistencies with MMR. They think it’s working out pretty well now, but they could have reacted to concerns much quicker and will try to in Season 2. Queue times are also an eternal challenge for most PvP games with multiple roles - most players want to pay DPS and solo shuffle matches tend to be longer than 2v2 or 3v3, so there’s are some internal math to work through,

  • At a high level, the developers want to serve their PvP community better, but they also need to grow their PvP community in order to justify it. WoW has a very passionate core of PvP players, but it made up a much larger percentage of the player base 20 years ago than it is today. The focus with things like Training Grounds/etc is to get new people into PvP, but it’s not going to be a process that happens overnight. While that feels like they might not be doing enough for players already at the high-end, growing the overall population will help everyone in the long run.

  • PvP is long overdue for some PvP talent updates, which isn’t something they’ll get to in Season 2, but is on the horizon.

  • Overall, the team is happy with the pacing of PvP rewards, though they’d like to improve the visibility - perhaps with something like a renown track to make it more obvious what players will earn and when. As far as the effort that goes into earning them, the nature of PvP is rewarding continued success: proving that players can continue to perform at a specific level. They don’t want it to be too easy to play for a bit and then park at a level, or come in very late and very quickly jump to a high level of rewards.

There was also a little bit to do with adding a deserter to fix certain exploitation of queuing.

GOAT!

Woo, pvp mentioned. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Yeah things die when they’re not cared for. Super annoying to see them say that without acknowledging it’s their fault this happened.

And without insult.

MMR should be consistent season to season. Baffling to me that they can’t sort that out.

I just feel like they are completely out of touch if this is the direction they think would improve PvP participation. Addressing basic team balancing and queue syncing would do more for PvP than any training experience ever will.

It’s like, how many awful experience do they think players are willing to take? Oh look, the 5th bg in a row where we have no healers on my team and everyone is under geared. When removing factions and adding even the most basic spec and ilvl balancing would fix this it’s hard to take anything they say as being serious. The solutions are so ridiculously simple.

Hopefully that addresses in both blitz and epics.

Thanks for the synopsis!

I had a cucumber plant when I was younger, I went on a trip for a few weeks and the person I asked to water it while I was gone had not done it once. That thing was dead as a doorknob

It’s so nice to have a good change for once.

I genuinely hope so. Would be nice

Look how he looks at this question :joy:
and they said we were just making stuff up, its not real right? Its not happening at low MMR so its not a problem, sure, of course… right… REPORT BOOBOODAFOOL FOR BEING OFFENSIVE AND TROLLING AGAIN so he can get another 7 day forum silence for speaking the truth!

Okay imagine this. u wanna see a movie and ur looking for a screening of Odyssey every theater has like 8 showings cuz its super popular and ur friend is in one of those showings and u want to see it with him but your not allowed to. Thats how low rated WINTRADING works. They have about 50 different games at 1800-2700 cuz most people are stuck at those ratings. at 3000-to 3400 ITS LIKE 1 OR 2 GAMES. You can guess which one people can easily get into and you cant guess at low rating.

Even if it is 1% it still happens. Until the sites start advertising rated boosts starting 2400+ and not mess with 0-2400 I will keep saying its happening because it is. Even if its 5-10% of games. I get what you mean tho, sure there are wayy too many games for the CR range, but there are just THAT many companies at ALL CRs boosting.

I mean if you only play 3000-3400 for months on end you are already biased. If someone played 1000+ games all 1900-2700 CR for months on end, they would notice that the same players are sitting around the same MMR for 6 months now. They gain then lose and gain and lose and boost their person, then go on another alt when their MMR reaches another higher level. Or they could just gain MMR with the one character and boostee. Just things I’ve noticed playing like 5000+ blitz matches these pass 5+ months.

I do actually agree with the points outside of saying that the PVP community is small therefore doesn’t justify dedicated devs.

It doesn’t take a whole team to see specs A B & C completely dominating and to modify the numbers by talking to people. Can literally give someone min wage to do this in 2 hours.

Hard agree. It’s a cop out. It would be, what, $150k to fund a full-fledged PvP dev for the community? Crowd fund it for crying out loud, I will contribute a sizeable amount. They simply just don’t want to, the money is there.

Although, I’ve been somewhat impressed with the tuning late in this season.
