It’s not bad, but it’s not necessarily indicative of winning the hardcore marathon. A level 1 who dies to a starting area wolf (somehow) is also a participant of hardcore, but not necessarily a finisher haha.
There are no winners in that race.
It’s hilarious that HC players would try to dismiss achievements as “retail crap” when they literally created an addon to create their own achievement system.
The HC addon was literally a homemade enforcement of an achievement system. Some of you are so blinded by irrational “anything retail related is bad” it’s just sad at this point. The hypocrisy just zooms over your heads.
And people could choose to ignore that.
There are iterations of the game that already cater to those needing validation in that way. Let Official HC servers remain as the Blizz ruleset stands.
I’m not sure what your point is?
An account wide achievement that gave you cosmetics you could use in retail would be pretty easy to ignore if you don’t even play it.
You want things in retail?
Go get em, tiger.
Ride that dragon.
So basically you admit you have no rational argument as to why there shouldn’t be a crossover achievement, you just have an irrational hatred of retail and automatically disagree on that basis.
Thanks for the clarification.
There was no need to use the addon to play hardcore thus any programming for “achievements” was easily ignored, irrelevant and unnecessary.
Just as it is unnecessary for official servers.
If people want prizes to use in retail they should be earned in retail. Haven’t “hated” on retail at all but rather wished you joy there. “Go get em, tiger” was encouragement not hate.
So odd you seem to be looking to or for insults.
I simply do not see the need for rewards for one iteration of the game that aren’t earned there and that the classic era of the game doesn’t need them either. Just an opinion which isn’t necessarily “wrong” or “correct”. It just is.
Blizzard has done crossovers between their games for over a decade. A lot of their players play multiple products and like crossovers.
Your desire for product isolation is irrelevant. That ship sailed a long time ago.
Your opinion and I have mine.
My opinion isn’t irrelevant (to me).
But achievements (to me) are.
But sure.
You want a prize?
Give this man a zonkey, Blizz.
Achievements on retail last with you as long as you have the account. Who knows how long HC will last? Your character basically sits there and does nothing unless you suicide for the realm xfer.
Standard classic however should not award achieves in retail.
Why is it acceptable to receive mounts and titles for simply purchasing other Blizzard IPs (and in some cases just simply collaborating with another company), yet you have an issue with the same game (albeit earlier version) doing what so few players manage to actually >>achieve<< in a challenge mode?
Achievements first came out in mid TBC as an addon, with an earlier edition right at the end of Vanilla. Dont call something retail crap if you are here posting on a retail toon and also dont know the facts.
It’s a special game mode just like RP servers.
It doesn’t have an expiration date.
A special, non-time limited game mode, like RP, in the classic era so by your assessment
Thanks for your support.
But if retail tourists want to tool around on a HC server for a while and believe that merits a reward, Blizz can give those players a nice zonkey mount to ride if they choose. Wouldn’t that be nice? Or maybe a pet - some people were pretty steamed that Wrath Reforged players got the murloc pet which was not available to retail.
I’d like to see a leaderboard that is unique to each server’s faction. It could have details like:
lowest time to 60
most quests completed
most dungeons completed (e.g. killing the final boss)
leaderboard could be filtered by race and class, so you could see which Mages got to L60 the fastest, or a breakdown by guh-nomes.
I know it’s not what you’re looking for, but Warcraft Tavern did this:
https://www.warcrafttavern.com/wow-classic/news/wow-classic-hardcore-1-60-speedrunning-leaderboards/
Yeah, something like that but with more details and filtering options. In-game, maybe talking to an innkeeper.
I’ll call it what I like, and this is an Era character. By the way, we aren’t playing TBC Classic, so your comment is pointless.
No. I mentioned how you thought that the achievement point system is retail crap.
Then I said how they came out first as an addon in mid TBC and then later on in Wrath is when Blizzard added them in. Never said you mentioned TBC. I was the one who mentioned it, mainly to prove to you a point.
And yes, you are posting on a retail toon. Do you even know what that is? You apparently do not because you are posting on a retail toon. That is current version of the game that is not Classic even if you do not have the latest expacs purchased, you are still considered a retail poster.
You know Vanilla is retail, right?
I don’t play retail but this seems like a fun idea.
It has absolutely zero impact on the era / hc only players and can give retail players a nice incentive to try it out.
I can also imagine some retail ‘completionist’ losing their sanity trying to finish some hc achievements, which is hilarious in itself.
Edit: However, if blizzard uses it to insert more retail trash - like the UI they snuck into era, or other changes like that, then this is a horrible idea.
