To ALL who have the same issue. Check out this forum post on the bug report side of the forum. Apparently, accounts who have recently added game time may become restricted for 30 days… Who knows why.
To those who suggested the bug report forum, thanks, it helped find it BUT the response I got to my original ticket and the restriction in game lead me to believe this was an account issue where my account may have been tagged for some sort of abuse with the whole incursion/duping thing that had been going on. Needless to say, I did not participate in any of that except for simply doing incursion quests to level.
Hope that link helps put some minds at ease.
We know why. Blizzard wants it that way.
From the announcement here.
You must consume the first 30 days for the restriction to be lifted. Since it was mentioned above, yes, even a “non-refundable” 6-month prepaid subscription. The first 30 days need to be consumed.
So just to summarize:
If you are encountering this bug, you’ll need to leave your information in the Bug Report Forum. Not here and not through a ticket. Only through the Bug Report Forum.
That restriction is on the purchase of the wow token, not ah, mail, etc. You’re making a false connection.
That’s in retail, Zungar.
Ah , gotcha.
Hi. people who have token time injected cant ‘add time’ until the toke time expires. that means we cant fix this the way you want us to fix it because of how the system is designed.
is there a way around? Can I buy a pet or something?
Botting accounts are paid for with stolen credit cards. When the credit card holders file a claim, the bank takes the money back from Blizzard plus a handling fee. That costs Blizzard money. If the botter uses a stolen account, it costs Blizzard money (through man-power) to help the proper account holder recover the account.
Where is Blizzard making money from botters?
I can’t engage in conspiracy in here anymore or I’ll probably be banned from the forums. I made one comment about it and it got deleted by staff. Uh well
Not on any of the forums would probably be much more beneficial for you in the long run.
I’m aware.
This is correct. But also, they don’t need to add time. That’s the whole point. Whenever their token time runs out, and they consume 30 days of paid time, then it will be time to add more and they will be able to purchase the WoW token.
Whether their token time ends in 2 months or 2 decades, they will be able to purchase more WoW token time when they will need it
you can say that because you don’t understand how frustrated this restricted, i choose to play sod not hardcore and got restricted for a month. you can’t post anything on ah, mail or trade and my bag is full, it means this game is unplayable for a month.
Thing is, nobody is discounting how frustrating it is. We all get it. We’ve been playing the game long enough to have all had fair share of annoyances.
DW also isn’t wrong. The game is an ever-changing behemoth no matter what version is played.
This is what I’m worried about. If I just suck in up through the next week, and let the payment renew, and still locked out then I just wasted another $15 and still can’t use the product I paid for.
Had this exact problem last night. Need a gold rod, but can’t buy one for another week. And even then it looks like a lot of people that are passing the 30 day mark are still locked.
Do you think adding this hurdle for botted accounts is worth ruining the experience of new players?
While it is unfortunate, yes, I feel it’s worth it.
I’m not disagreeing with your view of it, but I feel like there is a large disconnect between how long term players view it, and how shafted returning/new players feel after having paid for a service that is then ripped out from underneath you with no warning. Blizz made a choice that has made SoD completely inaccessible to new players.
I and a friend hopped back into WoW after years of not playing because some friends wanted us to come join them for SoD, so we did and played for a couple weeks, and now we’re completely unable to buy raid consumes, crafting mats, or anything else.
I was trying to get my wife to roll a character, and now there’s no point because she would have to pay for a whole month, before being forced to pay again just to be able to use core features of the game.
It feels like kind of a scummy move for those of us that had put a ton of time into SoD, but have done so in less than a month, and just wipes out pretty much any potential to have new friends join you in what was supposed to be the best iteration of group exploration Blizz has made.
I will concede without reservation that they could have done a better job of making new and returning players aware of this change. The flipside, though, is that it’s possible the bad actors would have also benefited from that messaging.
