Yeah, I agree this is a mess. Allow players to rename each individual account. I have 3 legacy accounts and 3 starters on all linked together and I would like to rename them so I know where all my toons are. Yes, I know I have a lot of accounts.

Please make this a thing. I have two accounts named “wow1”, one EU and one US. They write (and overwrite) all their settings in the same folder and every time I switch regions some addons are having a field day “rebuilding” their databases. It’s annoying.
Edit: Just noticed that this is in General Discussion. I intended to reply in a thread in Customer Support. Google is not my friend today. But the message stands. It’s annoying.

I also would like the ability to rename. I used a name i no longer like for my account name. Battletag is fine, so not a huge deal.
But i feel for the eu and us needing different account names.

Sure, i suspose. I would benefit of naming one of my wow accounts “WoW Main”. Since it will be the only account i use this point forward.

Bumping this thread because I still support this.
Given that WoW is the only game on battle.net where you can have multiple accounts, we should be able to pick names for them.
It’s so odd that no updates have been made to the WoW account naming system since the battle.net implementation back in 2009.
I got to name my account before they took that away from us…glad I was able too…

My account is named after my very old username. Back from before they allowed us to use email addresses to log in.
But I would support others being able to change their account names.

I think that happened on my main Bnet…it goes wow1 to wow3…no wow2

Yeah, if you made a WoW2 trial account and then deleted it, then the next account you create would be named WoW3 and so on.
I played around with the system and have accounts named WoW100 and WoW1000, it’s pretty wild how it assigns labels. lol
Except, that has nothing to do with the naming system which has not changed since this thread was created, therefore making it still relevant.
