Accessibility features should not be locked behind achievements

This should not be a thing anymore. It shouldn’t have been a thing in TWW. There’s no reason to allow one form of flight immediately but lock the other one. Either lock both behind an achievement or put Pathfinder to rest.

No flying at all in current content. :dracthyr_love_animated:

I can agree to an all or nothing.

At least if it was unlock at cap, I could go level on old content first…

You can already do that. Lots of ground mounts in the game, or even your character’s feet.

Why do you care if other people enjoy the game more with flying?

Well, no.

Yeah, that would be one approach I guess

But why is it necessary at all?

Sky riding will be the most popular form of flying on its own merit, it’s already proven that for the past three years.

The only people who don’t use it now are people who have motion sickness, or disabilities, or a small minority who just don’t like skyriding.

Gating it is pointless.

I think it’s fair to say that Skyriding is a downgrade in accessibility for some players, and avoid arguments about whether anyone called old steady flight an “accessibility feature” before Skyriding existed…

You can’t get on a ground mount, or walk, with your own characters?

Are ground mounts and feet being removed in Midnight?

This is kind of like saying to take off gear if you find content too easy.

Just poor game design.

So it’s only good design if other players are forced to engage with the game exactly the way you want to, even if that makes it notably less enjoyable for them?

“Take off your gear”

this saying would get you killed in game for much of the time.

Pesky game world getting in the way when my flyhacks aren’t allowed. :dracthyr_a1: I gotta get from point A to point B instantly.

It can be. But static flying is still not an accessibility feature.

The OP started their thread with that disingenuous comment. I’m not going to ignore it so that they can get away with such blatant posturing just to twist the subject.

If people still can’t comprehend that Blizz themselves find Skyriding to be engaging with the game and environment, while static flying cheeses things, and they’ve made sure subsequent expansions are accessible for those who can’t use Skyriding… then there is no conversation to be had.

Ah, OK, one of those.

You know, at this point, your attitude about other players is so consistently dismissive, derisive, and self-absorbed, that I think I can safely just… :mute:

All too easy.

Just lock both or lock neither.

Makes zero sense to lock the slower flying while allowing the faster at the get go.

That may be, but the game still has true accessibility options available whenever flying is ‘required’ for gameplay (the options that usually give the game control of your character for movement, if not the entire task that the game’s asking of you). Player-controlled flight is first and foremost a convenience feature—it’s only been since the creation of skyriding that Blizz has likewise figured out that it’s possible to design flight in a way that can interact with the world in creative ways that aren’t possible with the ‘air swimming’ design of steady flight.

I’d be fine with this if they make ground mount interactive some way and optional.

I support both options being available at the start but if they were to be locked holding W on ground mount to traverse isn’t it.
