Have you tried capping the max speed step boost to 53? I have not seen a single one of the 13,14 gen CPUs that are stable at the boost Speed step will allow.
This worked for me. My crashes were truly random, some days I’d have none, some days I couldn’t get a toon logged in at all. Retail WoW seems to work fine now.
About these crashes…same here on an earlier Alienware Aurora with Intel Core i7 7700 CPU @3.6GHz (so no 13th or 14th gen Intel involved), GeForce GTX 1070 8GB, 16 GB RAM, Bnet running on NVMe primary drive, 2nd 1TB with no connection to any of this, and 1TB Crucial X6 external SSD dedicated to run WoW only. Setup meets Blizz’sRecommended Requirements to run current game content. PC runs just fine. WoW is the ONLY issue. All PC components tested with manufacturer’s tools & are working properly with no issues. Windows 10, all drivers, all software, and apps updated to most recent versions.
Same basic timeline for issues as most of yours posting here, & becoming impossible to get past Entering World loading screen to actually play WoW since patch & fixes for 11.1.5. . (But a handful of exceptions, with freezes & game crashes following in minutes).
Bnet seems to work fine as usual. The usual points of failure are the game loading screen, the Enter World screen with character list, or the loading screen after character selection. Depending on timing of freeze the actual elements displayed on screen vary with screen, might be black screen with just buttons visible or get as far as a 90% progress bar. Freezes might last 'til game closes with no error messages or eventually go to white transparent screen and hang 'til Windows “app is not responding” message.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve done repeatedly include these:
- Restarted PC (maybe a 100 times in last weeks).
- Ran Scan & Repair repeatedly at logical points while doing this stuff.
- Removed all WoW addons completely from pc.
- Checked for virus, malware, etc, using every scan level and tool from Norton (also game .exe permissions).
- Ensured that Windows 10, all drivers, all software, and apps were updated to most recent versions. Also tested that all pc components were running normally.
- Tried most recent and previous drivers for my GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card in clean installs from Nvidia.
- Tested with default game graphics setting & all levels from 1 to 6 of graphics settings.
- Also set & tested specific detailed/advanced graphics settings & disabled vs enabled features based on researching recommendations from Nvidia, Blizzard, WoW Tech Forums, Dell, internet gaming & technical websites)
- All overlays in WoW, Discord, Nvidia, GeForce, or other apps are disabled.
- Tested with Accelerated graphics both enabled & disabled.
- Single Asus VG248 LCD monitor
- Wi-Fi is NOT enabled & never has been on this unshared pc. Tried all of the above troubleshooting with both VPN set at On and at Off.
- Uninstalled & reinstalled WoW at least 4 times. Following the uninstall, removed any remaining WoW folders/files from game files location, restarted PC, and did clean reinstalls each time. Also uninstalled & reinstalled the Battlenet app (which runs normally).
- Last night I was stunned & briefly elated when an attempt from the WoW exe in the retail folder got past the loading screen into the game. I froze soon after & was impossible to log in again. This post is long with a lot of details, but including all this in case the info provides any clues or helps anyone. Thanks for your helpful comments, which I hope will lead to finding a fix for everyone’s issues
Please start your own thread with a dxdiag. You issue is not connected to the 13,14 gen issue.
Posters here share my issues: freezing, crashes, similar start dates, only occurring when running WoW) Also in common with some posters are Dell Alienware, Nvidia, access violations, and inability to fix following all recommended general troubleshooting steps. If I posted to the wrong forum, my apologies. I didn’t understand that the discussion was intended to be limited to whether the issues was caused by the Intel gen 13 & 14 issue. Figured it might be valuable to point out my issues were similar, but not caused by those processors. Maybe someone else here has not yet determined whether the Intel gen 13/14 issues are the cause in their case. I can post elsewhere. I’m a novice at posting in forums. Just driven to start by this issue. ![]()
My dxdiags show this same WER error repeating:
Fault bucket 1546290006532767221, type 4

The problem signatures are both connected to Dell SupportAssist, which I might remove or disable. This is ok for my old, out-of-warranty pc. But players with a newer pc still under warranty should not uninstall it. “All device, case, service contract, and user-entered information are removed when you uninstall SupportAssist. If you reinstall SupportAssist, it registers with the SupportAssist server as a new client.” Meaning all the prior info is lost & cannot be recovered to display again.
I’ve since then run the DISM and SCF command line tools for Windows 10 to check & potentially repair problems with my installed OS.
New dxdiags show a couple of LiveKernelEvents: could be associated with a hardware component nearing failure maybe? all test as ok for now…or some app corruption or incompatibily? no idea. And then there are the Windows Event view logs… I had a new pc ordered before all this started. I might give up until it arrives…& hope that these issues with running WoW don’t continue with the new pc. Will continue to check back here.

if you are getting the same errors OP posted, have you tried setting the affinity for wow.exe? i couldn’t play for more than 5 minutes after yesterday’s update. I set affinity for wow.exe to cpu 0 -3 and have not crashed once in the last 12 hours. My processor is an i9 14900HX, so may not help but worth a try.
I would just like to chime in and say I’m also being driven mad by this issue on my Alienware laptop. If anyone finds a solid fix, please let me know. Thank you all for sympathizing and empathizing; dunno what WoW did this time but man is this one helluva bug.
I have the same set up…and getting these errors now…Thanks for calling Dell for me! lol
POSSIBLE WORK AROUND FOR THIS ERROR:
After you start Warcraft, open Task Manager on your computer and go to the Details tab and find “WoW.exe” and right click to bring up an option menu and select “Set Affinity”. On the next screen, only have cores 0 through 3 checked then exit back to the game. NOTE: You will have to do this everytime you start Warcraft, the setting doesn’t save after the program is closed.
Following this has totally stopped crashes for me the last 2 days. Before I was lucky to go 30 minutes without an Int Divide By Zero crash the last couple weeks. For reference, my PC has an Intel Core i9.
Getting the same on my Asus Rog Gaming Notebook with 13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i9-13980HX. Also started getting this from last 1-2 patches. Not hardware issue for sure
Just had this Access Violation crash. AMD CPU and Nvidia 3060. Reinstalled last night and the only addon I had running was Details.
this started happening to me this week, too. I’m on an AMD, so Blizz needs to quit blaming this on Intel and give us an explanation as to why your game has suddenly stopped working for so many people in the last month.
No other game or app on my PC has this problem. I can play Starcraft II out of the battle.net launcher with no problem. This is a WOW problem, not an end user computer problem. I renamed cache/wtf/interface, disabled all addons, rebooted, updated all my video drivers, ran the battle.net repair tool, and did a full uninstall/reinstall and still can’t launch the game. I’ve submitted tickets with my crash logs to the support team, who ignore them and just keep sending the same generic list of things that hasn’t worked.
fix your game or refund me.
i installed the game to a completely new folder and everything is working fine. this was not an issue with my PCs memory or a CPU issue, it was an issue with your game/installer sharing a folder with retail. probably yet another issue with 11.1.5
