I want the old Glyph of Lockpicking that made opening lockboxes instantaneous.
Well it would be easier to make glyphs for magical users as they aren’t bound to real world limitations. I do think though that Blizzard should go in a bit harder on glyphs. I love the customization they give, never going to say no to adding more glyphs to the game.
Let’s be honest glyphs are almost useless now.
I can understand the balancing act and reasons for removing them, but did the ui for it need to be removed too?
Now it’s buried somewhere in your spell list or something?
Honestly I don’t even know anymore, I haven’t used a glyph since the change went in.
Now? They’ve been purely cosmetic since they switched from the glyph UI widget to applying them directly to spells in the spellbook. That happened either before or right after WoD, I forget which.
I’ve always said Glyphs were an awesome idea… say someone likes the mage shields that each spec has… I hate them, a glyph would update it to look better.
Now I know they can’t cater to everything but giving more options is a good thing, especially visually when the things we see now get dull and boring.
After… it was part of Legion Pre-patch
That’s what I mean.
After that change - they have basically dropped off the map. Both in terms of sales, usefulness, usage, you name it.
I use glyphs on all my characters. It’s character customization.
The fact that they are just cosmetic makes them even better IMHO because now I can choose whichever Glyphs I like the most instead of the best theoretical glyphs for smooth gameplay.
I mean, imagine if Orc posture had gameplay influence and a straight back Orc was better for DKs than the hunched Orc. That would be bad, right?
I just feel sad that we could have so much more character customization if they added more Glyphs.
Bring back warlock firey water walking.
And add in a ton of cosmetic glyphs.
Please and thank you.
For a moment I thought you were going to announce the exciting fact that Glyphs once against mattered, gameplay wise.
Sad face.
Remember when glyphs actually modified abilities?
i miss the Astral Recall glyph that let it take you to the Earth Shrines, still miss it.
Glyphs are a perfect opportunity to add racial flavor to specs, like a glyph to make
ghost wolf a kodo, ram, etc
The main reason they dropped off the map in terms of sales, is because people were charging 5-20k per Glyph… and last I checked on the AH, they still are…
Beyond that, it’s the fact that Blizzard basically abandoned the system after making the change, they removed several glyphs for no real reason, and didn’t add new ones until the end of the expansion… also they have left stuff like [glyph of the lightspawn] virtually unusable due to the fact that the skill it modifies is replaced by a talent that every priest takes and it won’t apply to the talented version, and they even said “we’re looking into it”… STILL CAN’T USE IT
They should have just made that baseline… and then changed it to take you to the maelstrom with Legion… it would have been useful then…
What I’m saying is they are buried deep in the ui now, to the point where people have forgotten they are there.
There is very little reason to know/understand glyphs now that they are only cosmetic and have no real “ui” to speak of.
Like basically you have to know they exist which is no longer as apparent as it once was.
True… the removal of the UI does make it very hard to even know what glyph options exist… and with many of the blueprints learned through rare drops obtained from some of the most unsuspecting sources… We could go months or years without even knowing that a certain glyph exists if it wasn’t caught in the data mining… for all we know there might be a couple dozen hidden glyphs out there right now even…
Yes.
