Could be cool if the quest line actually involved that. Bolvar may be good but he did /made the Player DK do some shady stuff in legion. New DKs could still be forced to do stuff against their will but at the end of the intro quests is when the helm breaks and they become free. Obviously there won’t be the same drive for vengeance but they could still resent him. They decide they need to fight the jailer or whoever, but would do it on their own terms and not as pawns of Bolvar.
I am done trying to argue with someone who has ZERO creativity or imagination about what COULD BE.
This is the type of player who grinds thousands of mobs to level up as fast as possible… ignoring the journey and all the amazing quests and experiences along the way.
I said it earlier and I will say it again…
I literally never thought I would have to argue with Role Playing gamers for the inclusion of better content…
I really don’t wanna grind out that zone time and time again. It’s cool in the first time but when you are forced to do it entirely every time you make a Death Knight it gets annoying.
-you start out not as a dk but just a general member of your chosen race
-your first quest(s) involve one of bolvars people coming to you with a recruitment proposition
-you travel to acherus as a new recruit
-theres an “initiation” process where you actually get killed and then bolvar brings you back to life as a deathknight initiate
-following quests involve coming to terms with your undeath and learning to wield the powers you’ve been given, leading up to testing your mettle against sylvanas’ loyalists
Sadly…it’s just as I feared…Just a simple quest from Bolvar to go to Orgrimmar or Stormwind.
Lazy writing and lazy development. Just like most of BfA.
I’ve already pre-purchased Shadowlands, and most of what I am seeing from the Alpha is exciting…but sadly new Death Knights won’t get to experience something similar to the WotLK Death Knight intro quests.
