Ability/Loot Lag on Oceanic Servers Despite Normal Latency

08/17/2018 10:37 PMPosted by Boneskulls
Still not fixed. 2-5 second lag anywhere in BFA zones. Has been like that since BFA launch. It is not our end blizzard, stop asking us to do tests. I can type in /1 anyone lagging? and everyone says yes.

It is your end, fix it.
Any monkey can tell connection lag from server lag, all you have to do is play an online game to know the difference.

This is server lag, on blizzards end, they clearly have no idea what it is or how to fix it.

They ignore and ask us to run tests on our end to try to shift the blame on to us or our ISPs, when it so blatantly obvious that it is their end.

the fact that instance servers are perfect is conclusive enough that it is overpopulation/requests/shards in outdoor zones.

- Does this latency only occur in Battle for Azeroth zones or anywhere in game?

This information will help us greatly! Just make sure to collect it when the issue is at it's worst and during the time frame stated.

Issue only happens in BfA zones. Both home and world latency are between 9 and 12.
- Haven't done non-BfA zones to test. Ability/loot delay is worse in more populated areas (e.g. area of Nazmir with 3-4 world quests has more delay than the middle of nowhere in Vol'dun)
- The latency is consistent, not spiking. Compare to the average, not the worst
- Is nowhere near as bad as its been, getting worse as the day goes on. I'll probably just give up for the day soon
- In-game home and world latencies are a near static 22/23
- The worst spikes are standard for my connection & occur routinely when I'm not having ability delay - that's just Telstra, it doesn't affect the game normally

I'm getting inconsistent results on Khazgoroth. On my login yesterday and earlier today, I got a crap load of input lag in Kul-Tiras, and Zandalar, but after a login this afternoon and a quick test outside Stormwind, I didn't get any noticeable lag until I started questing in Kul-Tiras and Zandalar, but even then, there were small sections when the lag dropped off enough to make the game moderately playable.

Ping was 21/21. I'm currently using Telstra Cable, but (hopefully) changing to the NBN soon.

Currently 59/59ms which is slightly higher than normal. But never affects gameplay like this.

Even when I've been sharded to american servers before ie in instances, its never this bad
I'm also getting bad lag on Caelestrasz doing BfA content

In game it's telling me I have 12ms latency for home and 15ms for world, but you can feel a lot of lag in the game

I will ask this again: are we being sharded onto US servers and not being told?

That would be at best 200 ms. The lag, when I last had it, was like 9k+ and made things completely unplayable.
It is not being put on to US realms.

I have been on US realms to do the elite WQs, the 200ms is constant and behaves as expected.

This is random spikes FROM THE SERVER.
That would be at best 200 ms.

Oh PLEASE..when we had US servers it got to 1800 ms or worse.

It was 350 on a GOOD day.

This launch has been a disaster and now I cant play at all. We cant play we have massive server lag we still have backwards night and day after two years and after nearly four days of this all we get is "please post winmtr"..which we have done...

So now what?

What are you talking about? Playing on US servers was about 400-500ms consistently for everyone i know. Many of us played on them since vanilla up until the oceanic server move. It was annoying but no-one would continue playing if it had been 1800ms

Yes this is crap but no point making up untruths.

Main reason I threw in the legendary cape was because of lag spikes up to 1800 ms.

I have been getting serious lag for just the last 2 days. It is getting very difficult to tank dungeons. I noticed when reboot and log back in it is fine, but after a little bit of dungeoning or Nazmir mount farming, my RAM usage climbs to 7gb!

I play on a custom built i5-4690k, 16gb of 1866mhz RAM, MSI GTX 970 4gb, with Win 10 on a SSD and my WoW installation on it as well for faster load times.

I have been playing almost non stop since BfA launch and leveled with my son and had a slight delay from the first time we started killing mobs. Over the last 2 days that delay has gotten worse. In dungeons it will freeze up for a few seconds at a time on trash pulls. The other night in Temple of Sethaliss (spelling) the whole group was having the same issue.

It is almost as if there is a memory leak or something for that much ram to be used. It reminds me of the GTAV problem for PC that I don't think Rockstar has ever fixed. As you play the RAM usage climbs and climbs and intermittent freezing happens. Like GTAV it seems to be quite noticeable at around 6-7gb or RAM usage.

I play on Blackhand and live in the midwest USA.

I'm seriously dumbfounded on how they don't see any issues and need to investigate??????

The chats are filled with complaints and its not just certain times. I have been on all week during the day as I have had the week off work, as its happens in spikes throughout the day.

I've mainly notice in BFA zones as that is where I'm spending my time, but I have been to the AH in Stormwind and lag is also occurring while at the AH and looking at auctions.

Getting mail from your mailbox anywhere is seriously slow . Gameplay is slow and unbearable.

What I have noticed, is that it seems to be isolated to the AUS servers, cos when I do a group quest and get moved to a US server, the lag disappears instantly.

My latency figures also remain at 13/14, even during the lag, and when doing a group quest and get moved to a US server, it increases to 150 approx. when I leave the group, it drops back to 13/14 and the lag reappears.
Any word on this because its effecting everyone, I see the other servers are fine in the US.
Game is still unplayable and there's been nothing besides asking us to run some tests.

Feeling so frustrated. Third day in a row I have had to log off because the lag makes doing anything untenable.
