Ability/Loot Lag on Oceanic Servers Despite Normal Latency

Understood, just keep me posted. I'll be here for a bit yet and hopefully we can get some examples once people start coming back home. As earlier mentioned, we do have a backup plan if I can't catch it tonight. Thanks for the information however!

Its Saturday tomorrow here in Aus, I would have no issue if you would like to test then .

E. G. Test at 9am Sydney Time thats 4pm PDT
Prime time in Oceanic region will be 1:30 am your time (if you are in Anaheim). Hope you got some Red Bull!
Drakuloth

Time now is 1032am Sydney time.

In exactly eight to ten hours is when things will get busy.

We are now GMT plus TEN since daylight savings ended, you are GMT minus 8 which is 533pm your time. So call it 7-8 hours from now is when your people need to be looking.

By 7pm my time (approx 9 hrs from now) is when the servers will be busiest..thats late Friday night. I will be on over weekends so will keep you apprised.

I will actively be posting when it happens and log winmtrs for your team PLUS i will add what time it is where I am along with all other data.

Lastly, I run off Aman'Thul and Nagrand, so thats the two servers to look at from my reports.

Best I can do.

BTW: If your GMs are running around, tell em that a giant Arthas would definitely spice things up -:D

(Oh and see my earlier post re the World of Tanks thing..I dont know if its in the same ballpark but it was the same people - Equinix. Dont know if its a factor but the similarities made for interesting reading. Is it relevant? I dont know.)

Is anybody actively experiencing this on any of their characters at this very moment? Right now we'd like to see if we can have someone hop in and reproduce as it's actively happening. We need this information to be posted ASAP when you see the issue - if possible while you're still on the same shard (i.e. don't zone once you see the issue. We know it's irritating lag to deal with, but we need to gather some data for the developers on this.) If I catch your post quickly enough I'll send someone to your shard and see if we can see the issue live.

I'm going to be keeping tabs on this thread until approximately 10 PM PDT, and depending on how much data we get between now and then we may work something out with our friends in EU to cover the gap. We want to get this diagnosed so we can provide some more useful info going forward.

The issue only happens during OCE Peak time.
Which is midnight Cali time to 6am Cali time. (5pm Server time to 11pm Server time)

We took a look over a lot of these winMTRs and had our Quality Assurance team try to reproduce the issue in real-time on your servers. We haven’t seen any server instability which would be causing this on our end, and when we went in to test, we didn’t find the same issue you all have been reporting, even when we actively joined the same shard some of you were on while reporting issues.

The issue only happens in BfA zones. All previous expansion areas are perfectly fine.
Only happens in world content (doing WQs).
Not in dungeons or island expeditions.

The problem also only happens during our Peak Time. Which is from approx 5pm to 11pm AEST (Server time aka Sydney/Melbourne time).
Which is from Midnight Cali time to 6am Cali time.

When the problem happens both general chat, and trade (if people are in the cities of BfA) have many people commenting on the issues when it is happening.

Both my mage and preist experienced the lag at the peak time (around 5pm to 11pm, also on weekends) in BFA zones. No matter battlemode on or off.

Timing wise you would want to be doing it around 1am PDT onwards for you guys, thats when more people would be on after work and stuff so the issue becomes more common.

Or have Australia based testers.
Just started in Arathi on my 120 monk on Nagrand, and its currently starting to lag on looting, so I assume it will go downhill from there. Wasn't too bad elsewhere.

PS: It did, now my attacks are lagging, so I died at one point because the elite was fighting was able to kill me before I could get a strike off.

Better call your ISP and ask them to look at your line ;)

Also same.
Three weeks later Blizzard cant work out time zones after 44 pages of posts....clearly they are taking this issue seriously.
Firstly and lastly there will be database logs on the servers and shards. This is where I would look first if I was a DBA....rather than getting the Users to sort it out.
Incoming testers. You may be messaged in game. Anybody else seeing issues let us know!

Yeah these recent responses make me 99% sure that their original batch of tests was during THEIR prime time. No wonder they didn't find anything.....

And even when they do, they say "we might figure something out with our EU friends" even though they're leaving before the lag window. So pretty much saying they might have someone around when the issue actually starts happening.....
Excerion see above.

They are on it...so let them be. Patience.
We were able to get a bit of info with that brief hiccup - anybody still experiencing it before we sign out for the night and hand off to Europe for an assist?
I got an ingame message and had the pleasure of playing around Arathi and some BfA zones with a GM taking note of the shards I was in. Dunno if I managed to provide you with any useful info, matey, but it was a pleasure to chat to a Blizzard employee about the game, something I've not been able to do in a long time.

I am feeling somewhat more optimistic, if they are taking the time to do that sort of thing. Just wish I'd had some more of that really serious lag to show to you.
Drakuloth

In about 5 hrs you will get loads of info after people get home..its just after 3pm now.
Yea unfortunately I tried to find a place that was lagging but as it's too early it wasn't happening. Had little hiccups but nothing enough to report about.

Hi there Friends,

We are still working on this and gathering information. Please keep getting back to us with these reports as you see the problem on your realms.

To make information gathering more efficient, please tell us:
  • The Zone you are in
  • The character you are on
  • How long ago you had the issue
  • The Realm the affected character is on
  • If you are in a group or not

You are not forgotten, we want to help here and are working hard on finding an answer for all of you. We have had a few fixes already that has resolved the problems for some, not all of our users.

* Note, this is for our users on Oceania Servers, if you are on another server, please make a new thread *

/Nathardrick

Character: It happens on all my characters but the one's I play the most are Khashana (Monk) & Alessara (Druid)
Server: Frostmourne
Time Zone: AEST
Zone: Any BFA zone.
Group: Both in a group or by myself (i play in a group of 4 regularly and by myself regularly)
How long: Since launch. It usually happens when I am playing from around 5:00PM - 11:00PM AEST.
Timing wise this is about 3 weeks late.

You guys should have done this sort of investigation weeks a go.

Lag only happens at peak times, so the time you guys posted asking for info was early mornings in Australia so of course there will be no lag.
It's happening now.

    Stormsong Valley
    Imtwelvehaha
    Right now
    Frostmourne
    Solo

Hopefully someone's still watching from Blizzard's end.
