Shamanism at least in the warcraft universe heavily focuses on Orc culture as it was the first race to have shamans production wise. Wolves are a core part of Orcish culture, regardless of what Clan you belonged to. It is why in Cata you see orcs at the Shrine of Goldrinn in Hyjal. Wolves to Shamans is what the hand of Tyr (aka the Silver hand) is to Paladins. As Paladins started with Humans in WC2. It is why until TBC shamans were horde only while paladins were alliance only.
