I’m not quite sure you’ve ever participated in the system, or perhaps you have and indeed you do believe you are entitled to force others to play with you like we’re in the schoolyard in first grade.

It’s fine… Wow is toxic anyways…
Ppl, tend to enjoy kicking others for the fun of it, like as if it’s a feature.
ok, but before we had vote kick, we had a broken, exploitable system that hurt people’s enjoyment.
stuck in a group with bad or abusive players, and your only recourse is to leave the dungeon. all THAT does is put the burden of the poor behavior/play on the wrong person.
so they gave us a system to kick people from groups. Yes, sometimes it gets misused (case in point, the guy above who claims to do it for fun), but I think the good outweighs the bad.
So what is your solution?
The only way Ican think of to ensure an actual reason would be to make it a dropdown with pre-defined values.
Seems pretty unnecessary though, because if the reason is obvious, you don’t need one printed on the screen. if it isn’t obvious, just vote no.
The time and game of the people who are NOT dc’ed is just as important as the time and game of the person who is, if not more so, because they outnumber the DC’ed person.
meh, I genuinely don’t think it would matter. But like I said, I also don’t care if they put a name on the thing.
All letting the person respond would do is create more conflict. Giving players 30 seconds to hurl insults at each other before the guy the group no longer wants to play with is actually removed doesn’t seem that productive to me.
Seems like the problem is this innocent/guilty idea that you’re using as the moral compass for vkicks. That actually isn’t a requirement of the system. It’s built to allow players to remove people as they choose. There’s no burden of proof for any reason. The only reason needed is that enough of the party has chosen not to spend more time playing with you.
You can call that a straw man if you want, but it’s just the facts of how the system is designed.
I propose a fix that adds a short timer to the pop-up box, the one that says “Vote to kick? Y/N” because most players just click yes really fast without reading or thinking.
It is a straw man because the system does not accurately gauge whether or not the group wants to play with you. It’s broken.
Plugging your ears, closing your eyes, and repeating that “nobody should be forced to play with you” is simply childish.
It’s not broken. The judgement comes from the members voting to kick.
No it doesn’t. Not as long as the vote to kick dialog can be spammed anonymously during combat.
I would like the 1-person dungeon feature. This would provide much convenience to me. Thank you for sharing.
Yes it does. They’re not being forced to press kick, they decided to, for whatever reason. If they wanted to keep playing with the person they’d decline to kick.
And you keep saying it’s because of spammed votes, but that doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue, and it would be fixable with the suggestion of adding a CD on the voting which was mentioned above.
For “whatever” reason is not the same as “not wanting to play with the person”. If people press kick because they simply want to stop the annoying popup, then the VTK system is broken, isn’t it?
Oh, so now you are advocating for “fixes” for the perfect flawless VTK system??
Yes, a CD was one of the four fixes I mentioned. Here’s the full list that will fix VTK:
No, the system isn’t broken if people decided to kick because they saw the popup. Anyone is able to decide if they would prefer to keep the person in the group and press decline, or not.
I never said that the system is perfect, I said it wasn’t broken. It’s not a zero sum equation. I think your suggestions 1&3 might be good. I don’t see any value in 2&4 myself. I also think it’s working as intended now for the most part. I can say I’ve never seen anyone spam kick votes and I’m sure it’s not that common that it’s really in need of a fix.
i just made a post about how vote to kick is just toxic in certain ways. i think vote to kick is a good feature. i just think it needs to be looked at.
There’s a special place in the maw for people that Necro a 3 year old thread… I hope your armpits are infested with the fleas of a thousand camels.
honestly its my first time on the forums and didnt notice the age
Okay, I’ll drop it down to 500 camels.
Wrong. It is misuse when the 2minute kick limit goes by and people auto kick whoever they are annoyed at for whatever random reason.
