A thought about flying

Agreed, and give all the zones a resolution update while they’re at it like they’ve done w/Arathi & Darkshore.

You, sir, have given the best perspective on this subject AND this company’s…attitudes, since the Great WoD Flying Riots.

Sure. They had the right to make it an issue.

They can change the rules at any time. They chose to change the rules despite knowing people would leave. Millions of subscribers left.

They chose to throw all that money down the drain. That is not a responsible thing to do.

It’s funny you say that, when the anti-flyers say “it makes you explore the world!!!” about being grounded :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, I’m sure you are right and all those players left because of flying.

Definitly because WOD was a poor product only to have a population surge again in legion…which made you wait on flying.

I think you exaggerate the overall importance of flying. While I agree that it might play a small part in people leaving. Very few leave just because they cant fly.

They also say player flying lets you skip content. nothing is further from the truth: FPs, whistles, teleporters make it absolutely impossible to go investigate something interesting. Player flying, you can do this.

and if ‘too many’’ of us just opt to fly by, then that’s on the game for having boring content.

That’s the issue with simplistic thought. Just as was done during the upcoming debacle in wod, blizz supporters claimed over and over again that no one would ever leave over flight.

Because people like you need to have others believe that anything and everything that happens is a result of one factor and one factor only.

Yet it happened. And every single returning player I have met who left during that period cited flight as big issue to them, the straw that broke the camel’s back.

And most of those people have left again already.

So misrepresent reality away, if you can’t understand how multiple factors work.

Flight was important to a lot of people, another thing you feel the need to misrepresent.

Again, misrepresenting what was happening by saying that “flight wasn’t the only reason, thererfore it wasn’t a reason anyone quit” is closer to a lie than anything else.

Totally wrong.
I, and many others, were there when WoD sank itself. It was flying, and this company’s attitude that caused over HALF of that player base to quit: many of them were long-term customers as well.

Get your facts straight dearie.

Still, it’s more people that left because you could fly.

People who quit for literally no other reason than Pathfinder’s implementation were, IMO, rather shallow players. Moving on was probably best for them and for the rest of us.

…to which I will add that NONE of the ‘flying is bad’ crowd is limiting themselves to ground only and those particular mounts.
They ALL have flying, to the max, along with a veritable ZOO of aerial creatures.
Volumes are spoken.

Here’s how I look at pathfinder…

How many people left over pathfinder? A lot of people said they were leaving. A lot of people came back and said they left over it and were leaving again, as the number of pathfinder requirements to unlock flying grows exponentially. (only a slight exaggeration)

How many joined the game after hearing that there was a giant meta achieve to unlock a feature that was formerly available to all at nominal cost?

None. Nobody ever joined the game because they found pathfinder engaging, fun, or exciting.

I just wish the next patch would come out already.

Oh please.
If you really are upset by other peoples’ playing style, then what are you doing in an MMO?

…to which I add the FACT of ‘pathfinder’ still being required for WoD Draenor and Legion Broken Isles, even though those areas are no longer relevant.
Wut up wit’ dat?

Wow, I guess you guys really showed me.

I mean if blizzard lost all of that revenue solely because of flight I’m sure they would make it available at launch for every x-pack…

Wait, what do you mean they didn’t. I’m sure their shareholders will be up in arms…

No not even the shareholders?!

Well, I guess we are stuck with all of this flight rage on the forums from people who are unsubbed…apparently, since they all left because they couldn’t fly

Down for no flying at all. Then again, I play warmode on and enjoy random encounters with allies.

We are stuck with a company that failed to follow the First Rule of Engineering:
"If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’’

Blizzard is obviously going in a new direction, with its games. It is a shame that direction seems to be DOWN.
goes to brush and comb his hair back into place, from all that flipping.

That’s not how it works though.

In order to have it ready you have to pay people to test it. Since they have offshored many of those roles to save money, the quality of their work declines as well.

The lesson blizzard is learning is that you can’t cut costs, grow your business, and expect your quality to remain high. These values are in direct conflict with each other.

Those people are the worst. They should go try and quest in Storm Peaks without flight. These are the same weirdos who claim to hate flight but use it at every opportunity and unlock Pathfinder always. Like someone previously said, new team, new ideas beginning with WoD. Doesn’t mean those ideas are any good though.
