[A] <The Dauntless Few> Lordaeron Military RP

Introduction

Are you searching for a lore-abiding community of friendly roleplayers, united by shared theme and sense of comradery? Then look no further than [The Dauntless Few] - An Alliance of Lordaeron Themed Military Roleplaying Guild that fully explores the setting of the Classic Era’s post-Third War setting.

Whether you roleplay a survivor of Muradin’s Expedition, a vengeful Knight of the Silver Hand seeking retribution for Lordaeron’s fallen, a Quel’dorei who remains loyal to the Alliance, or a Rogue Wizard of Dalaran seeking to rebuild the once-great City — [The Dauntless Few] is the perfect guild for you.

It is well-worth noting that at this point in the timeline, there are two separate Alliances in Azeroth. The Alliance of Lordaeron, which continues to survive on Theramore Isle, and the Grand Alliance, based out of Stormwind.

Our well-uniformed, military RP-guild represents the Lordaeron 3rd Legion - an expeditionary force that remains loyal to the Alliance of Lordaeron, and seeks to restore the homes of those who have been displaced during the Third War. Here, Elves of Quel’thalas unite with Men of Lordaeron, Stromgarde, Kul Tiras, as well as Wizards of Dalaran. We hope that you may join our ranks: For Lordaeron! For the King!

Backstory

The Dauntless Few is the special designation of the Lordaeron 3rd Legion ― a joint-expeditionary force activated during the onset of the Second War. This special reconnaissance force was highly decorated for its instrumental role in securing victory behind enemy lines.

Its moniker, The Dauntless Few, arose from the fact that many of its operatives had been veterans of the previous conflicts in Stormwind and Khaz Modan. In later years, the name also came to refer to the long lasting presence of the Legionnaires. Once the Alliance Expeditionary Force became stranded in Outland, the union which held the Alliance of Lordaeron together began to dissolve. The Dauntless Few maintained the membership of individual Quel’dorei High Elves and Gilneans who personally chose to remain in Lordaeron following the decision of their nation’s leaders to rescind allegiance. Following the financial constraints from the reconstruction of Stormwind, many of the Legionary and Expeditionary Forces of the Alliance were deactivated. The Dauntless Few went on a campaign to earn patronage, and was able to reconstitute itself into a paramilitary organization. Its new purpose was to preserve the union of the Grand Alliance.

These efforts proved fruitful until the outbreak of the Third War. The Scourging of Lordaeron resulted in insurmountable losses for the Dauntless Few. More than two-thirds of its operatives perished in the defense of Lordaeron. The few that remained dedicated themselves to helping the people of Lordaeron safely escape across the sea to Theramore Isle. For the rest of the war, the Dauntless Few continued to stave off the threat of the Burning Legion, and joined arms in the climactic battle of Mount Hyjal. Today, the Dauntless Few provides stewardship and protection for refugees from many of the former nations of the Alliance of Lordaeron, in Theramore Isle and in the Hillsbrad Foothills. Their aim is to restore the lands of Lordaeron to their former glory and provide restitution to those who have been disenfranchised. Its membership mostly includes veterans and survivors of the Third War, who now seek to preserve the former-union which bound them together.

How It Works

So, you’re wanting to give military style RP a try, are you?

Well here’s how our recruiting system and chain-of-command works!

The very first thing to understand is that we want this guild to operate within the context of individual character-development and immersion, as much as we also endeavor to meet standards of uniformity. To this end, it should be understood that we allow player’s to apply at the level that best fits the circumstances of their character background.

Because of this, the first thing we distinguish is that there are Enlisted Ranks and Comissioned Officer Ranks.

The integration and experience for both ranks involves a fun RP campaign that we deliver session by session along Kalimdor’s Merchant Coast. Enlisted Recruits start Basic Training at Fray Island, while Officer Candidates begin their training across the channel at Northwatch Hold. Both Officers and Enlisted personnel are scheduled to graduate in classes at the same time. Once Officers and recruits have graduated, the new Officers will have an opportunity to lead the new enlisted ranks on an RP campaign to eliminate Pirate activity along the Merchant Coast. Officers are given full permission to design the scenario, and identify the objectives of these missions, and demonstrate their skills in leadership and strategy. Alternatively, the Enlisted ranks have an opportunity to demonstrate their comradery and valor.

So whether you’re looking to be a story-teller or DM, or whether you’re looking for a more responsive player environment, both the Commissioned Officer and Enlisted ranks offer plentiful opportunities to expand horizons.

Because of this, we have a second distinction which is equally important to understand. Only Officers in High Command are OOC Officers of the Guild. That’s right! Only High Command take up the OOC administrative responsibilities. So that way, you can keep your In-Character and Out-of-Character contexts separate, and will not have to worry about OOC obligations interrupting your playtime or character progression.

Meritocracy

We seek to operate [The Dauntless Few] off of a system of meritocracy. We like to reward characters and players alike when they do well. Because of this, we keep a very objective set of standards when it comes to promotion opportunities.

In-Character promotions are awarded on the basis of participation. The more RP Military Campaigns a player participates in, the higher ranking their character will become.

For Enlisted, we have a series of Non-Commissioned Officer Ranks, so that NCO’s and CO’s alike are capable of receiving advancements and promotions.

Our general policy is a system of odds. Participation in the sequential amount of campaigns corresponds to the number of ranks achieved. After involvement in one full campaign post-graduation, a character will receive their first promotion. After three campaigns, they receive their second. By their fifth campaign, they will receive their third promotion. By their seventh campaign, they will receive their fourth.

This extends all the way to the rank of ‘Field Marshal.’ After that point, a player must make OOC application to become a member of High Command.

Uniform Policy

By the very nature of being a military RP guild, [The Dauntless Few] does maintain a very strict uniform policy. Uniform lists are included in our discord page, with images to follow.

Every uniform is purposely designed to resemble iconic units from the Warcraft III game. And we do pride ourselves on perfecting the aesthetic.

With that being said - we only require the uniforms to be worn while a character is on-duty, actively on campaign with the Dauntless Few or otherwise representing the guild.

Uniforms are not enforced outside of guild functions.

All uniform materials are provided by the guild, or are obtained with the assistance of guild members.
