I feel like it was a really poorly thought out attempt to mollify the night elf playerbase.
It’s the only reason I can think of because it really does nothing positive for the story as a whole, all it does is create this character they have to continually push out of the way because she makes all other characters superfluous.
There’s a reason Thrall isn’t the Aspect of Earth anymore.
This is why I eventually stopped using the OP character I made as a kid. He was too powerful, so he never got to do anything without making things boring.
The only fight she’s actually won so far was vs an undead human bowman…on the 2nd attempt, despite supposedly wielding god tier powers.
But hey she’s strong vs nameless npcs at least
Honestly this exact kind of writing is prevalent in certain super hero movies/series too. DC universe for example, writers always trying to find a way to make their heroes not super OP despite introducing them as super OP gods. (excluding batman)
Sorry offtopic a little.
But hey at least Jaina seems to be consistently OP.
Jaina OP? surely you jest. I mean she just flies in on her magic ship, defeats the horde, and saves the Alliance. Nothing OP about that.
As for Tyrande they have really done her character dirty. If you are going to give her god like powers let her use them, or at least give her a Jaina moment.
The weird thing about this. In the DC MMO DCUO, the player characters are stated to have “all of the heroes’ and villans’ strengths, but none of their weaknesses”, yet are somehow weaker than the canon characters.
Tyrande was handled very poorly. Which is a shame because her new model looks really cool. Especially in that cinematic against Nathanos. Aside from the cool model though the Night Warrior doesn’t appear to be anything special.
I imagine they’ll have to expand on their lore if that ever happened, considering Void Elves didn’t exist when Demon Hunters were recruited back in TBC.
My problem is I don’t know if people would want to have void elf demon hunters or go with there lore. But I’m hoping blizz will expand the void elf lore.
I can’t remember who it was who said it, but one of the important devs said a while back that although the initial Illidari were the first two races that moving forward there’s nothing stopping them training new DHs of any race.
If DH’s are still an Elf only group i would see no reason it couldn’t expand to Void Elves/High Elves & Nightborne. I don’t think that will happen though until fighting Demons becomes relevant again however.
