The Broken and Taunka are really cool as well. But I think, if we are getting any more AR’s, we will be seeing the worgen and forsaken counterpart first. As they are who are left. Worgen and Sethrak share some model rigging, specifically female worgen. And there are some story parallels as well. And despite all the seemingly story irrelevant AR’s we have gotten, there are some themes Blizzard has going on. And that is mostly with them releasing AR’s that in some way or another are related to an existing race. ie: Vulpera.
They share some basic model similarities to Goblins, etc. Yet, are technically a new race. All in all we have:
Draenei\Lightforged Draenei
Blood Elf\Void Elf
Night Elf\Nightborne
Tauren\High Mountain Tauren
Goblin\Vulpera
Gnome\Mechagnome
Human\ Kul Tiran
Troll\ Zandalari Troll
Orc\Mag’har Orc
Dwarf\Dark Iron Dwarf
Worgen/ ??
Forsaken/ ??
If they keep the theme up, they would be giving us something tied to those two races before we see the others. And since Horde got a new race. Alliance, should in theory get one as well.
Sethrak, have quite a few things going for them to become that new race for Alliance.
And with upcoming race customizations potentially satisfying some of the other AR requests such as Wildhammer Dwarves, etc, it increases the odds of any new AR being a new race.
I do believe the Arakkoa may share some rigging with the Worgen? That could potentially make them a contender.
I guess we shall see!
I agree. But they could use snakes themselves as a template.
There are species where one gender is more colorful than the other. In Boomslangs, it is the males that are colorful. Then there are Wagler’s Pit Vipers where the females are more colorful. Although the males aren’t so drab themselves either. It’s honestly a fairly common phenomenon. And pulling from snakes again, make the male’s tails longer. That is a fairly common trend in snakes. Females have a shorter tail. Males have a longer one and you can often visually tell the difference.

It would be great to see which snakes or cute birds the artists would use as inspiration. They aren’t limited so they could combine 2 or more identifiers.
The idea opens up the game to a refreshing change. More effort could go into creating or fleshing out culture. Put more little townfolk interactions with more variety. Maybe it’s their daily lives that make them a perfect fit for the Alliance.

It could also be something simple as Alliance (I am figuring Worgen/Gilneans in particular but who knows) helps them reunite their divided people and get them back on the right track. It’s an interesting parallel I noticed between the Worgen story and the Sethrak. Divided people that eventually set aside their difference to reunite under one ruler for some form of greater good.
And birds would make a great source of inspiration too. And heck, if one gender has to be bigger. They can do that. There are snakes (and birds) with females being the larger one. As well as the opposite. I can’t name a bird species off the top of my head where the male is larger, but Indigo and Cribo snakes follow larger male to smaller female. Quite impressively as well. A male indigo/cribo is quite the muscular and intimidating snake.
