Oh man, first Raedolf, then Hitavo? This is like a stroll down memory lane. Guess i’ll need to play some more on WrA
And that’s just counting the people that -haven’t- changed their names. It’s been three years now since I switched to WrA, and I still get people messaging me on their new toons, recognizing me from my ED days.
Welcome, stranger. Yes, you may of course join us. We are far enough away from the pack territory that this is fine, and I am not here to whisper secrets, but to reveal truths.
Now… where to begin… At the source, perhaps. Have you heard the name Goldrinn before? You may have heard of Elune, the moon goddess of balance known to the night elves. Goldinn however, is a bit more elusive, the White Wolf, a wild god of the hunt and of nature’s primal ferocity.
About ten thousand years ago, it was said Goldrinn himself was already ten thousand years old at least, while Elune… remains a mystery. She has never truly been seen, while Goldrinn has taken physical form time and again, as a towering white alpha-of-alphas able to hunt kodo as if rabbits.
Rise of Elfkind
Cave trolls began to worship Elune, and doing so made them change in body and soul til they were purple of skin and tall in posture. Elune called them Kaldorei, children of the stars, and they went on to build a great empire.
Yet as they did, they turned away from the wild gods and from Elune, sapping Azeroth of arcane magics instead and reaping all they could from the world. It was the use of this addictive arcane magic that attracted the attention of the demonic horde, the Burning Legion.
War of the Ancients
Out of greed, the night elf queen herself made a pact with the demons, summoning them to Azeroth and turning her followers into Satyr. The lower class of elves fought back, and called on the wild gods for aid. While Elune from afar as the source of their blessings, it was Goldrinn and the other wild gods that answered the call, and wrought war on the demons to save Azeroth.
They succeeded, but at a price. Goldrinn and many of the wild gods died to save Azeroth. Goldrinn himself protected the elf city in Feralas, and fought off legions of demons and three Pit Lords at once before he went down, leaving his bones and his legacy behind.
Rise of the Druids
The surviving elves had learned the hard way what comes from the “progress” of civilization, and returned to nature. Druids communed with the spirits of the wild gods, who now lingered in the spirit world, in return for blessings and powers such as taking on their form.
One such sect of druids were the Druids of the Pack, they that worshipped Goldrinn in return for the form of a wolf.
All these forms and more, the druids experimented with, as was their right. And when the leftover demons sparked a war three hundred years later, it was this diversity that came in handy.
Priestesses of Elune, Sentinels, and Druids alike fought back, but it was not enough. Their whole empire had collapsed, and they were losing this War of the Satyr.
War of the Satyr
The demons were formidable, and winning. Some druids - including the young druid named Ralaar Fangfire and his close friend Arvel - used pack form to turn the tide of battle. They even accompanied three sentinels to assassinate the Satyr general, Xalan the Feared. And as they were left for dead by the sentinels, it was the pack form that was their saving grace in their escape… at the cost of one sentinel that got in their way.
Malfurion Stormrage however - the leader of the elves - had tried the pack form before, and failed. Jealous, afraid, and having seen what it could do, he banned the Pack Form from use. Malfurion and his wife even went to far as to demonize the wolf god, claiming Goldrinn’s rage is towards Elune. Some druids of the pack - perhaps a dozen - left right then and there, refusing to tolerate such talk and rules. Ralaar and Arvel, however, stayed. Until Arvel died, defenseless without the pack form.
Finding Arvel has died because he would not break his oath to Malfurion, Ralaar too left the elves, in search of the druids that had left prior. He found them all in pack form, addicted to it, and surrounding a relic they had found. The very fang from Goldrinn’s remains. After besting each of them, he scolded the pack for their recklessness and - realizing the form was indeed imperfect - promised a solution.
The Scythe of Elune
He reached out to Arvel’s lover, Belysra Starbreeze, a Priestess of Elune herself, in possession of the Staff of Elune. He met with her and the pack on a hilltop, and bid that they fuse the two relics together. At the she-elf’s call, Elune herself lit the hill in moonlight, and forged the two relics into one artifact.
The worgen know it as the Fang of the Father. The world, as the Scythe of Elune.
Just as the druids had focused on the fang to become as wolves, Ralaar was eager to be the first to draw on the Scythe, and - presumably - be the first to take the new purified wolf form.
Instead, he howled in pain. He took wolf form, but his body soon contorted, as Elune reforged the elf into something else entirely. Neither wolf, nor elf. Howls of pain turned to overjoyed laughter as he stood, the first worgen.
The druids of the pack saw their alpha in his new form, and saw it as the answer to their prayers. The power of the wolf, balanced by Elune. The pack followed, as did several other druids they reached out to in the three days that followed.
Malfurion lead the elves into yet another battle, aiming to bring down a sturdy Satyr fortress, the walls impenetrable and their druids and sentinels numbered. The siege was to take days, weeks even… until the worgen came. They cleared the walls in single bounds, tore through the satyr ranks with ease, and ended the battle in hours.
Stormrage, the Betrayer
Yet instead of thanking Ralaar, Malfurion was appalled at his new form. He called the worgen abominations, and - driven to anger - Ralaar lead the worgen against the elves as well.
Putting his elf past behind him, he claimed the name Alpha Prime, and the War of the Satyr quickly became a war of three armies. Only, Belysra Starbreeze was wraught with guilt. She sought out Malfurion, and gave him the Scythe. Together they made a plan, sending word to Alpha Prime that they wished to apologize and make peace. Yet when the worgen arrived, Malfurion used the Scythe to tear a hole to the spirit world, banishing all the worgen he could to the Emerald Dream.
Return of the Worgen
His intent, for the worgen to sleep there, for eternity. Little did he know, thousands of years later, they would be released. Only thirteen years ago, a Genn Greymane ordered his royal mage to summon Alpha Prime and his worgen in Gilneas, forming the Bloodfang Pack. At the same time, Elune revealed the Scythe of Elune to a sentinel in Felwood, who used it to summon worgen there, forming the Terrowulf pack. She heard of the mage and sought to find him, but died in Duskwood on her way there, the Scythe them found by the humans here, inadvertently summoning worgen as well, forming the Nightbane Pack."
The Wolf Cult
Alpha Prime reached out to his brothers, uniting the Bloodfang and Nightbane packs under the banner of one order; The Wolf Cult. Together, they searched for the Scythe, offered the blessing - which we call The Purity - to humans, and grew in number.
Yet with the Elves arriving in Gilneas to stop him, and the Forsaken about to knock down the wall and invade, Alpha Prime was running out of time. Until then, he had been growing his number among the Gilneas, inviting the willing and worthy to join him, aiming to assure the worgen as a race upon Azeroth, and to march on Darnassus to seek revenge on Malfurion. Out of time, and with the numbers to do so, Alpha Prime ordered the Bloodfang Pack to attack the city itself, and to bite and turn as many Gilneas as possible.
Aye, the attack on Gilneas was planned, and intentional, the purpose to bite as many as possible. Yet as it turned out, it was biting people unwillingly that became his downfall. The unwilling joined the elves that had arrived, and even when the Wolf Cult made a fragile pact with the Forsaken, the resulting skirmish cost Alpha Prime his life. The elves took some Gilneas to their homeland, the Forsaken began to kill Gilnean and Bloodfang worgen indiscriminately.
Five years later, and here we are. The Bloodfang and Nightbane are still following the teachings of Alpha Prime, offering the Purity to the willing, and doing what we can to ensure the survival of worgen kind.
Campaign: Brides of Lycanthoth - Tuesday Jan 21st, 7pm pst, Duskwood
Campaign night tonight at 7! The pack has been under attack from parts unknown, with shadowy rifts appearing throughout the territory behind their defenses, sending ogres to hit the Nightbane where it hurts, at the foundations of Nightbane society. It is up to the Redmane pack to get to the bottom of this and find the source of the attacks, before the Nightbane are destroyed from within.
Lore Night - Wednesday Jan 22nd, 7pm pst, Duskwood

22:37:30 Hatespeaker-WyrmrestAccord then gestures to the two piles of viscera in front of her. “This is the heart, split into two down its center. See how the walls of the chambers are darkened? That is not rot…and here,” She holds up a pitiful pile of gray matter. "A section of brain.
22:37:30 Hatespeaker-WyrmrestAccord Look, the darkness traces an unusual pattern in the folds, working outwards…" She trails off, staring hard at the organ.

Part 4: Seeing is Believing
Tues Feb 4th
Recent events have brought new information to light, and the pack suspects these so called “Brides of Lycanthoth” to be operating out of somewhere in Deadwind Pass. It is up to the pack to find out where, and if they can be easily dealt with.
Raedolf met with members of the pack at the den to discuss what is known, and how to learn more. Linetabe was seen to be doing much better, albeit shaken and ashamed. Lupyns and Artyom were present as well. When mentioning Lycanthoth, he found himself soon explaining the lore behind the dark spirit. That the servants of darkness summoned him to take Goldrinn’s place, but he was killed and Goldrinn lives. If the lore is to be true… the dark spirit cannot be Lycanthoth, but Artyom pointed out that such dark spirits have been rising in the world as of late. The soldier departed just as Stirba the seer arrived. After some talk of spirits, it was decided Stirba’s skills as a seer may be the key to determining the true identity of the devil these “Brides of Lycanthoth” follow. Raedolf Linetabe Lupyns and Stirba took to all fours and ran to Deadwind Pass, where the seer began her incantation and the three stood guard, fighting remain focused in spite of the mesmerizing spirit-calling fire. Hours later, Linetabe and Lupyns departed, returning to Duskwood to rest or for their pack duties, leaving Stirba and Raedolf in the pass. Finally, the reluctant specters answered the seer’s question, their answer surprising both the seer and the alpha.
