[A-RP] The Assembly of Three Hammers

The Assembly of Three Hammers, also known as the Dwarven Senate, is a ruling body put forth by the people of Khaz Modan. Lacking the more refined composition of human and elven politics, the Dwarves engage in rancorous debates and fierce brawls before the High Seat in Ironforge. The First Speaker, the one who governs and directs the discussion of the meeting, is a first among equals: every member of the Senate can speak his mind, whether he is of noble birth or a mere commoner. But only Thanes and Senators are afforded a vote.

Special Interests!

In the Assembly of Three Hammers, every Dwarf is encouraged to assume a certain interest. Whether your character is representing the people of the town of Kharanos as an elected senator or a clan as its thane, he or she will have a purpose to serve! Some of the many various interests you can represent include the Explorers’ League, the Trade Unions, the Dwarven District in Stormwind, the Dwarven Military, Religious Organizations, and many more!

Propose Petitions!

Every Dwarf, and even some foreigners, can propose a petition. This can either be some legislation that can be passed by majority vote or a request for aid that can be acted upon by each individual senator or thane at his or her discretion. Want to request aid for the night elf refugees in Stormwind? You can do that! Want to arrange a trade deal between Dwarves and Gnomes? You can also do that! When it comes to what petition you can propose, only your imagination is the limit! (Though whether or not it will be passed or taken seriously is another matter.)

Speak Freely and Swing Freely!

The Dwarves are a proud people, and as such it will take much more than just ‘political etiquette’ to keep their voices down during a heated debate. Any Dwarf of any status can say almost anything! The only restriction to speech are some basic guidelines to prevent a misplaced insult from triggering a civil war and the judgement of the First Speaker, which also is governed by restrictions of its own. Similar guidelines govern the brawls and duels that take place before the High Seat. As the old saying goes, if a Dwarven Senate meeting doesn’t have at least one drunken brawl, you’re doing it wrong!

Vote on Legislation!

If you are a thane or senator (either elected by vote, appointed by noble birth, or appointed by military status), you are afforded not only a voice but also a vote. This vote can then go on to have a meaningful impact on the culture of RP on the server. We are fairly lenient when it comes to granting a given character a senator or a thane role. Just fill out an application that briefly details your character’s backstory and the IC reason your character was elected as a senator or appointed by a thane. We want as many voices as possible during the rancorous debates in the Senate, so if your character has any sort of political acumen, feel free to try a senator role!

Run for the Elder Council!

If you wish to govern a certain aspect of Dwarven society, a position in the Elder Council might be for you! The Elder Council consists of many roles, such as the Royal Treasurer, which governs the finances of Khaz Modan, and the Stone Envoy, which represents Dwarven interests in foreign affairs, to name a few. In order to run for a seat in the Elder Council, your character must first be a senator or thane. But once he or she is elected, he or she will carry a certain measure of authority when topics involving his or her area of expertise are involved.

Network with other Dwarf RPers

Our discord has grown fairly large, so if you ever want to pitch an idea to improve Dwarven RP on the server and see if there is any interest, this is the perfect place to do so! You can also engage in discussion about Dwarf lore. If you are just getting into Dwarf RP or have been RPing Dwarves for a while now, the Assembly of Three Hammers is a great place to be.
