Sure! Representation matters!
The differences between male/female in some of the wow races is pretty hilarious
I’d be fine with it. I have characters of different genders, and wouldn’t mind having a character that had none or both genders.
As long as it looks awesome, and I don’t have to grind rep for it.
Well you do have to grind rep if you want to be the play it at release. ;o
But an xpac after the rep is removed… then another xpac later the dungeon requirements are removed.
You know that if they added something like Sethrak that suddenly the females would have a noticeable rack, in defiance of all notions of normal lizard-biology, like when they did the models for female uncorrupted Arakkoa. Other races like Saberon where they only ever bothered to do one obviously male model will suddenly develop females and have their NPCs updated to scatter in the female models.
Blizzard doesn’t make females in most NPC races because they won’t be playable anyway. Too much work I guess. If a race became playable, they would make females.
And then people argue, they can’t be made an (allied) race because they have no female models.
Which is why I figured, well, some races wouldn’t need female models?
Arakkoa gender is impossible to discern for non Arakkoa species according to current lore. So they already covered this.
Nah, keep it male and female.
Ethereals.
Mostly. I think it has more to do with limited resources, the availability of old male models, and their former lack of female models that weren’t “humanly feminized” (for a lack of a better term).
I feel like this has gotten better over the past few years. The stewards and the arrakoa are a good example. Obviously, they both use the same models for males and females. Perhaps it’s because they’re birds. But they still represent males and females equally between them, and that’s important. That’s something that ogres, mogu, and Jinyu do not.
Also, I feel like one thing is many people’s hard-to-shake perception that the default gender of a species is male. You know, if there isn’t gender dimorphism, then many people kind of just assume that the gender of the species is male. Which could be impacting a lot of things here, and be impacted by a lot of things in return.
But that’s going deeper into this than I want to atm.
Honestly the only thing that would make sense to me without gender to choose from would be murloc. Otherwise I’d call it lazy.
Wouldn’t care in the slightest.
More races are more races!
…Sure?
I could swear I’ve seen female Arakkoa though.
Ankoans and Jinyus could fit together. Generally reptiles, amphibians and fish have this characteristic.
I mean we already have Sethraliss, several Ankoan with notably feminine voices, the Tortollan, and a fair number of female Arakkoa who all exist without having visible breasts.
Two head are vastly superior… and you can legit have a conversation with yourself if you’re all alone.
This popped in my head, “A Murloc, wearing lipstick, with lust in it eyes and a big grin on it’s face approaches you…” Somehow terrifies me.
I imagine that that was mostly because it was cheaper to make one model for males and females.
I suspect that if they were going to make the race playable, they’d make changes that would include mammary-style shaping for the torso for the females. Because they think that people just can’t parse “girl” without “b**bs”.
