All the builds I’ve seen use the Storm Elemental (even for Delves), yet it’s never explained why. Is there reason the Fire Elemental isn’t used anymore?
Bonus damage to your lightning abilities that far outdamages the piddly bonus to Flameshock

A lot of it is about the Haste
Storm Elemental is basically a mini lust providing a stacking haste bonus after casting 4 lightning bolts during its lifetime. It does fair damage, but trinkets often write better notes home to the family.
Fire Elemental does fair damage, too, but without any of the haste, which is objectively worse. The ticking damage or extended duration on flameshocks don’t matter. Also it still doesn’t write letters home.
And when I mean letters home, I’m talking about Farseer Ancestors… They don’t scale with Elemental Unity. The 10% extra damage you might expect to provide to Ancestors’ Lava Bursts or Chain Lightnings while a Fire Elemental fights alongside you? Nope.
