A question about anime

The fact basically nobody has brought up the dragon ball series just shows that its transcended from being just an anime. Its still the only thing anime ive ever watched. Super might have been complained about a lot, but i loved it.

The damn tragedy that both the Dragonball creator and the Berserk Creator both died from medical complications :<

Most anime was and is a mistake.

You’re not wrong.

Bella in Twilight is an unscript loser for the same reason most trash anime male MC is an edgy loner weirdo failure of an example of mankind.

It’s so the losers who watch and read that crap can self insert and live vicariously through the characters and their hero journey rather than actually fix their lives.

Some anime is effing great though.

Like GiTS. Or psychopass.

Yes, the churned-out stuff on Crunchyroll are very similar in theme, but there are some unique finds on there. I am personally a fan of 90s anime. Cowboy Bebop is fantastic, and has an incredible soundtrack. But there are some really good anime out there, even now. Some recentish favourites that come to mind are ‘Ancient Magus Bride’ and ‘Violet Evergarden’. Maybe have a go at that kind of genre and see how you go.

If you’re totally new to anime and don’t know if it’s your jam or not, start with movies. ‘Suzume’ is recent and just wonderful. There are also some perennial favourite Miyazaki movies, (I personally really love ‘Ponyo’ and ‘Nausicaa’).

Kikis Delivery Service is still my fav ghibli movie. But it was my first when the Disney Channel premiered it aaaages ago because I believe they were the ones handling the dub.

And that the Yu Gi Oh creator died trying to save people from drowning

I know it’s kinda a spicy take, but imo the English dubs for those movies are actually pretty decent. Kiki’s is so cute, Jiji (her cat) is my spirit animal. :cat:

Yeah. I do know the dub changes a few plot things but I won’t spoil them.

True. I think a lot of Japanese conceptual things do not translate well to English so maybe that’s why they do that?

It had to do with Jiji. Heck I didn’t know about the change til way later because I always thought that’s how the story went

Oh, I was not aware of that bit - I’m going to have to go google!

Mashle would be a good watch its one punch man and harry potter combined lol

I don’t know if it’s true anime but something that goes along with Warcraft really well would be that show called Goblin Slayer

So many of the shows that look interesting seem to evolve into some kind of tragic loner fantasy

I prefer the ones with some kind of greater story or adventure.

For animes built into a similar basic concept, yeah, you could say they’re pretty similar.

From what I’ve been told by friends who watch anime (I’ve watched exactly two):

Full Metal Alchemist
Guilty Crown
Violet Evergarden
One Piece (personally from what I’ve seen, not a fan, but it’s very heavily stylized)
Bleach
Castlevania was actually good and easily accessed on Netflix, so I watched it, excellent show
Ghost in the Shell

From what I’ve been told of that one, it’s pretty good but very, very dark.

…squints because of the first episode

No one suggested ‘Problematic Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren’t They?’?

If you want something a bit refreshing, Black Butler is a somewhat odd one. Vox Machina seems interesting. Soul Eater, etc. Granted I tend to stick with the mainstream stuff… I tend not to wander into too bizarre territory… Bizarre Adventures being the exception (heh word pay).

I find the anime Wolf’s Rain to be a unique show.

Gotta say I actually prefer the first FMA anime to FMA:B. I’m not sorry.

Am I the only one who watched Escaflownè back in the day?

Also also, is this all the fault of cybersix?
