…to a place people also don’t go to?
Without quests to drive players there it doesn’t really matter where it’s placed, it’ll still be empty.

Open world content in this game is really bad, I give you that. It’s a shame that the devs ignore like what? 70% of their game, instead of finding ways to make it interesting no matter your level.
People got hella mad about the cata revamp and Blizzards been too shy to upgrade old content ever since.
Too many old farts playing this game throwing stink about every thing that gets changed to the game.
Some WoW players get upset about everything… and I mean literally everything, even if it’s as trivial as, for example, hair colors. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if they were to look at some other games where there are things like color palettes (for over a decade) among other things. Probably a shock for life.
You know. The thing that confuses me the most about the discourse placement of Amirdrassil and the idea that it really matters where it is.
If it was planted in Kalimdor, what makes anyone think it’ll suddenly be any different? That somehow it being there would mean it will be a constant part of the story?
If memory serves, Teldrassil was only relevant to the story in the first place when the night elves were getting kicked in the teeth. Ashenvale and Darkshore were the exact same way.
So wouldn’t history suggest if Amirdrassil was in Kalimdor, the only time we’d see it again if they were again getting kicked in the teeth?
If people needed to go to to the night elves for any reason, they could easily just go to Amirdrassil via portals, or by boat, there’s a number of ways for lore folks to get there.
That is because when they did the revamp the put this game on rails. You had to do A to get to B so you would eventually get to C. Before then yes groups of quests you had to follow a chain, but you’d get a large bunch of quests and could do them how you wished. I got really disgusted with how ‘on the rails’ this game was for a very, very long time… and it still is to a certain extent.
I don’t think so; they’ll probably even add quests and world quests to do. I can’t imagine having to do the campaign with 12 characters just to farm dragon races. This expansion was made with alts in mind, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
It would be tied to old world, which we do go to different cities for holidays and whatnot.
But they were never going to phase Kalimdor a third time. So I don’t know why anyone thought it was going there.
I get it would be tied to the old world. But that legit does not matter and i don’t get why people think it does. We have more than enough ways to get to places regardless of its connected via the overworld map or not.
So again, I’m confused why anyone thought that was a consideration lol
Simply put, it now feels as if the Night Elves lost by leaving Kalimdor. I would almost prefer no new tree at all if, for instance, they had given Hyjal an update instead. Not to mention that neither the flora nor fauna resembles their homeland. It’s just a mere copy of the dream.
Which is another thing that personally bugs me, but this isn’t true either lol. Unless they removed the NPCs that are explicitly called “Ashenvale visitors” and the like, which all but state that there are still night elf settlements in Kalimdor.
But I also understand Blizzard absolutely sucks at conveying things without sitting the players down and spelling it out for them. So players not knowing this and expecting the worst is understandable.
I understand your point; the problem, however, is that this is not reflected in the game. Darkshore is still tainted, and much of Ashenvale remains destroyed by the Horde. It doesn’t really feel like a victory.
I mean… it kinda does when other expansion cities aren’t used for such things, only the originals were that were tied to old world. So my guess is, people feel that’s how the base races always wer and they want to keep the fundamentals of the original races.
And since Bel’ameth isn’t a fully functioning city (we already have Valdrakken), there wasn’t any reason to put all of this effort into that twig, imo. It’s going to sit empty even moreso than any other place.
Which is, again, a Blizzard problem with conveying information. And one I do understand.
I just hate that it’s actually obvious to understand if you made even a bit of effort to look. And while I get players on the forum are unlikely to put in that effort I’d wish the Youtubers they follow did lol instead of just regurgitating the incorrect “oh no the night elves are completely leaving Kalimdor!” line.
EDIT: This reminds me specifically of when the Amidrassil seed first showed up and was empowered by the night elves souls in Ardenweald. And my first thought when I saw that was “Oh so they’ll likely be the new guardian spirits of whatever new tree grows. Cool.”.
Only to watch Youtubers go “The dead night elves souls are destroyed and fertilizer.” despite the fact that lorewise, we know dead night elves become guardian spirits so…seeing them do that for the seed was like super obvious, but instead we had like a year and half of fertilizer jokes.
Like I know its super easy to assume Blizzard is purposefully going out of their way to make night elf fans cry. But sometimes its like…they make it obvious they aren’t deliberately trying to be bad lol
You’re not wrong. But YouTubers are out to sensationalize and get clicks, so they’ll fake outrage whatever they can.
I was just trying to explain to you why not everyone is happy that the village is now on the Dragon Isles. I said it doesn’t “feel like” a victory; I never claimed that the zones don’t officially belong to the Night Elves. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, the game doesn’t reflect their victory… and I don’t watch wow streamers… as if that would matter. ^^"
I figure that Amirdrassil will be available for everyone in 10.2.5.
Let’s hope so. I’d like to start a Night Elf hunter here just to see what the first pet will be. And since I’ve played since Beta of 2004, I just like seeing new areas open up.
